Elizabeth Maxwell Instagram – I wanted to put forth a little PSA for all my cat lovers and owners, as I know both spring and Mother’s Day can mean more cut flowers in the house.
I was last week years old when I discovered that lilies are incredibly toxic to cats. Like, crazy toxic, folks. It’s not just the petals and leaves – even drinking the vase water or ingesting or inhaling just a few grains of pollen can be fatal to them. Should’ve done my research before I went out and bought all these pretty flowers, because it turned out most of them had to go. Ah well, I’ve re-homed them with some happy sans-cats neighbors, and I have a safe and healthy boi, which is all that matters!
If you’re considering buying a bouquet for yourself or a loved one, here’s a little cheat sheet for some do’s and don’ts regarding common cut flowers and their toxicity to cats. Many of these were a surprise to me. I’m also not sure how these affect dogs, the research I did was for felines only.
