My egg is six months old. This is the point I’m meant to write, “Six months of knowing you, baby! Six months of joy!”, then bugger off to sweetly wash some baby clothes aided by woodland creatures. But that would be like swiping a verbal Paris filter over the last half a year. The truth is more: “Six months of knowing you, baby! Six months of joy! But also six months of losing myself. But also six months of a generic newborn face morphing slowly into a delicious gummy smile. But also six months of awful nights, climbing inside your cot in the dark, both of us crying. But also six months of magical moments where hope peeks out from the clouds in my brainbox. But also six months of worrying about your darling sister. But also six months of watching you adore her, as she puts on another show for your greedy eyeballs. Six months of ‘What have I done?’ But also six months of ‘Look what I have!’ Six months of LIFE my darling boy, for all of us. Life in all its brilliant, precious, gruelling, contradictory richness.” Not to sound like an inspirational parenting fridge magnet, but it’s ok not to love it all. It’s ok to find it unbearably hard and feel like everyone else seems to find it easier than you. Essentially, what I’m saying is, the baby bit can be bloody dogshit and you’re not an awful person if you’d like to fast forward to when they can tell you what they want in their sandwich. 🥪 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
A wild flipping ride I never imagined would last as long as it did. @johannesradebe you are the best boyfriend I’ve ever had. Thank you for your laughter, your awful lyric learning and for letting me stare blankly into your beautiful face for 8 hours a day as you teach me what is left and what is right. Thank you for helping me make peace with my lankiness and making me believe that maybe I can, despite a lifetime of telling myself otherwise, dance. Gorra new show starting on @channel4 tonight at 10pm. Its called ‘You Won’t Believe This’ – imagine ‘Would I Lie to You’ mixed with a bit of ‘Line of Duty’ with a dash of ‘Gogglebox’. Oh and me with access to a tannoy. DANGEROUS.
It’s a great game where you have to spot the person telling the truth amongst a load of big fat fibbers. My main takeaway from filming was that this country is full of brilliant liars and I’ve never been more proud to be British ❤️❤️❤️

Yes Chef! ‘Bake Off The Professionals’ is back – Monday 10th June, 8pm on Channel 4! For all your patisserie needs. Filming began on this when my baby was 8wks old. There are two people I need to thank for being able to do this – the first is my amazing husband who took on a whole loada chaos and crying while I buggered off for overnight peaceful hotel stays. The second is the chocolate cupboard on set, which, while not human, offered me a great deal of emotional support 🍫 So much fun as always with @liamcbakes @cherish_finden @benoitblinmca – a better bunch I cannot imagine. @britishbakeoff
