I love cruising on my beautiful lekker bike through the city, even at night, which is still a bit unusual for New Yorkers. It’s especially fun when I’m all dressed up and when I give my stylish friend a ride on the back – we attracted quite some attention with people whistling and laughing along with us. Last night before getting back on my bike, we stumbled upon a street rollerblade fiesta straight out of the eighties. I couldn’t resist doing a little dance 💃. I ❤️ New York! #SoDutch #DutchNewYorker
A glorious day upstate, so lucky. Being able to spend most of the day with my bare hands in the earth, and planting tomatoes, basil, broccoli, cucumber, peppers, Brussels sprouts, and and and … And so exciting, I smuggled from Egypt all kinds of seeds from a local farmer at the Nile so there will be an Egyptian patch too. It’s the best feeling to do gardening and planting, also has so many health benefits. Not only is it great for the mind and very grounding, but it also has fantastic benefits for the gut, both while doing it and when we get to enjoy eating it all. Promotes overall health and well being and connects you to nature which will destress you completely. #selfmadegardener #healthyfood #organicgardening #exhausted

This weekend, I’m honored to be the keynote speaker alongside the Schmidt Ocean Institute , Ocean Rising and Celebration of the Sea. We aim to use the Positive Power of Fashion to connect Humanity with its Environment, showcasing designers inspired by the oceans and environment incorporating proactive approaches with better technologies and materials. With decades of experience in the fashion industry, I’ve witnessed its positive impact, while also becoming more aware of harmful practices like water waste, pollution, and bad policies. By increasing awareness, we can make better choices and highlight those advocating for necessary environmental and policy changes. Love that I get to help and inspire others in our journey toward a more sustainable world. ( my Dutch heritage has helped me enormously in having a better understanding and perspective towards a more sustainable way of life and learning everyday!) @schmidtocean @runaray @melissakritsotakis

It’s always challenging to fully capture a trip that truly touches your heart. While pictures may speak a thousand words, it’s the experience itself that resonates deeply within you. The smells, sounds, air, warmth, people and food all contribute to the essence of the journey. If only we could all immerse ourselves in different lives to broaden our perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures, rather than being fearful of the unknown.
