I think I’m ready to start putting this one into festivals. I was able to get a grant from the @nvartscouncil @neaarts and support from Mona Lisa Yuchengco to film this spoken word piece about SA. It will most likely be included in my @_motherlandfilm documentary. I’m planning to do an actual crowdfunding campaign for that one in the near future. As part of my grant requirements, I sent a thank you to my government officials, along with a Vimeo link, and got this response from Nevada Senator Julie Pazina (@julie_pazina_for_state_senate ): Giovannie, Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I fully expect to have some kind of discourse about the lyrics. 😖 But yeah, I woke up this morning to hear that it was released already. Daily Music Spin said: “Ultra Feminist” tells a powerful and defiant story of society’s attempt to wound and silence feminine power. Coming into her own divinity as a woman has been a big part of Giovannie’s story, and she wants people to understand that feminine energy is powerful in its own right and is meant to be honored. As such, society must not suppress feminism, deeming it weak and reducing women to a lesser status under the guise of misogyny.
