A Texas woman faces attempted capital murder charges after trying to drown two Palestinian American children in an apartment complex pool.
A Palestinian mother, wearing modest swimwear, was watching over her 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter when the woman approached them. Intoxicated, the woman asked about their origin before jumping into the pool and dragging the children to the deep end to drown them.
The boy was able to escape, but the 3-year-old was held underwater and was coughing up water before a bystander could rescue her.
Human rights groups believe that the violent incident should be considered a hate crime.
