Corpus Christi College🍷 Yes, we get sorted into colleges (I lucked out with this one) and yes we eat in a dining hall and wear robes and speak Latin. It’s all very weird but deeply erotic

I’m calling this photo series Robes & Latin ⚔️ Oxford has a tradition of academic dress called “sub fusc” that goes back to the medieval monks in the early stages of the university. Various cuts of the gown indicate academic hierarchy with a wee classist papal vibe as one wears a “commoners gown” until they graduate to a more priest-like flouncy sleeve. But more modern readings (by me) on the garment find the tradition quasi-Jedi, temptingly Eyes Wide Shut, and nonstop erotica

THERE WILL BE COLOUR [MOSTLY GREEN] in Robes & Latin
There are pelicans all over Corpus Christi College to symbolize the body of Christ. The pelican is shown piercing its breast to feed its young with blood, so up in this joint, Christ is female and a mother 🤙🏻👑
I’m outta pity, I’m outta time ⚔️ Robes & Latin: Or, How to Get Kicked Out an exhibition going up in Oxford that will attempt to materialize that which I could not (would not, should not) shove into an academic thesis, or rather, tries to capture what it feels like to study rape in the mothership of boys’ clubs. Does disembodied knowledge turn you on? Come over then. July 5th 6th Fusion Arts @fusionartsox 95 Gloucester Green It’ll be fun, I promise 🍷
