Kirsten Nelson Instagram – This spoke to me. It cried to me. It held me. I’ve forgotten now where I captured this screenshot but it feels very appropriate since the holidays are officially here. This time of year – in the quiet, the alone, as well as the crowded, the merry – tends to tap into unspoken emotions. Unexplored emotions. Or emotions that through necessity have been unaddressed and now are clawing their way out. And this year has been a roller coaster. Lives have been altered. Friends have been lost. What was solid ground has given way to new territory. This year the entire creative industry joins in this trauma. It is hurting and will continue to long after these holidays end. And so many times it is not immediately apparent… But it’s ok to be merry. It’s ok to find joy! To laugh! To engage with new strangers in the hope they might turn into new friends!
