Today, we mourn the loss of one of our own.
Cortez Police Sergeant Michael Moran was tragically killed in the line of duty yesterday. Sergeant Moran served his country as a Marine for nine years with two tours in Iraq. In 2016, he became a K9 handler and faithfully served his community in that role.
Those close to him say they will remember him for his humor and dedication to protecting his community. He tragically leaves behind two daughters and many friends and family.
Sergeant Michael Moran was the best Colorado had to offer, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and served.

Today, I honored Cortez Police Sergeant Michael Moran’s legacy on the House floor.
Sergeant Moran was a true hero who always put his country and community first. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership and service that will never be forgotten. His passing is an immeasurable loss for us all.
I pray that God’s presence can surround his loved ones, his family, and the community of Cortez in this time of mourning and mend this deep wound. Sergeant Moran was the best that Colorado’s Third District had to offer.

Designating Reclamation’s Power Resources Office at its Colorado headquarters as a one-stop shop for hydropower will reduce bureaucracy, lower costs, and help create good-paying jobs in rural America.
A date that will forever be remembered as we continue to live in the great country so many have made the ultimate sacrifice for.
