日本語は下の方に。 I enjoy wearing traditional folk clothing in modern times, and I always look for these kinds of clothes when traveling. I bought these two pieces in Budapest, where I shot “Blade of the 47 Ronin.” The Kalocsá embroidery vest is a traditional hand embroidery from the Kalocsá region of Hungary. It features colorful and bold floral patterns. The hand-woven dress, meanwhile, is from around eight or nine decades ago. It is in very good condition. The dress is from the Skopska Blatija region of Macedonia. Macedonian dresses with embroidery on the collar, sleeves and hem may be more popular, but I intentionally picked the one in plain white because I love Ainu (Indigenous people in Japan) embroidery so much that I was specifically looking for a suitable garment to embroider on. This dress is completely hand-woven and is made of 100% linen, so the fabric is very solid. The dress also has a real handmade quality to it. Later, I went to Hokkaido to look for someone who could do Ainu embroidery for me, but this turned into a long trip due to the fact that no one wanted to take something that was custom made. Then, by chance, I met @maki8477 in Nibutani who was willing to do it for me. I had almost given up, so I was really excited about it.
