I had no idea of these horrors until my friends @dakotabearofficial @casey.desjarlais @pincottmakeup opened my eyes. It is one of Canada’s best (worst) kept secrets. Look into it, talk about it, put pressure on government to respect and protect those that have been lost and those that are in danger. @international_animal_rescue are the most amazing organization and are desperate for funds to help treat the massive influx of wildlife injured by uninsulated electrical cables. Link to donate is in my bio. These guys are legit – total heroes and a respected organization. Please and thank you 🙏🏽❤️ here, they note to me explaining what is going on: Hi Nat, Sadly, it’s due to a rapid increase in urban development throughout Costa Rica. This is causing an increase in electrocuted howler monkeys from uninsulated cables, domestic animal attacks and traffic accidents. Their habitats have been fragmented due to land being cleared for construction, so animals are often having to venture across built-up areas to reach sources of food. Animals are also dealing with the threat of the illegal pet trade that results in horrific injuries during captivity. As urban development expands, this problem is only getting worse. A recent Decree issued by the Costa Rican Minister of Environment and Energy (MINAE), signals a shift, ensuring safe electrical distribution to preserve natural resources. But this needs to be implemented ASAP and will only tackle one part of the problem. Despite it being tough right now, we are not going to give up and are working 24/7 to protect these innocent creatures!! ❤️❤️

Nathalie not only wears multiple hats in the film and tv world but is also an advocate for animal welfare and climate change and is an extremely present and inspiring human who i’ve had the privilege of working with on multiple projects. This conversation was one that was the kind of conversation that I really wanted this podcast to be like when I first started this show.
