Participants will explore the fundamentals of on-screen presence, effective communication and basic technical skills required for successful television presenting. Day Outline: Introduction to TV Presenting Overview of the role and importance of a TV presenter, including how this has changed over the years. Finding your USP, what will make you stand out from the rest and what your area of expertise is. On-Screen Presence Body language, posture, appearance and facial expressions Connecting with the camera, audience and interviewee Learning to co-host with fellow participants Script Reading and Writing Basics Techniques for reading scripts/pieces to camera naturally and confidently Writing pieces to camera/scripts and interview questions Voice Modulation and Articulation Developing a clear and engaging speaking voice and working on varieties of styles for different genres of TV Techniques for effective communication on camera Teleprompter Usage Practical tips for using a teleprompter Maintaining a natural flow while reading from a script Mock Presenting Sessions Participants will have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt in front of the camera and ‘perform’ their learnings to the rest of the class. Constructive feedback and tips for improvement By the end of this one-day TV presenting course, participants will have gained foundational knowledge and practical experience to start their journey in the exciting world of television presenting.
