Caption : Six months ago my friends from @cerclemusic persuaded me to come to Mexico and present some new music. I couldn’t expect that it would end up as such a mad evening (as usually it happens in CDMX). Now the entire 90 min show teasing my new project Chilling Bambino and some other new tunes is online and ready to be played and cherished. Thank you for having me 🩵Likes : 33430

Caption : Whispering House is a very special track on my album which I had the pleasure to create and compose with a very special artist and human being – @olafurarnalds. Last year, during my stay in Iceland for another project I bumped into Óli in a local restaurant and we planned to meet the next evening to listen to some of my new tracks. Some time earlier I asked him if he would like to join me on one of my songs but we hadn’t really planned when and how to do it. A coincident encounter in Reykjavik was a good excuse to move it ahead. I came the next day to Ólafur’s studio and we listened to one of the tracks. He said “Hania, this sounds great already. Why don’t we make something from scratch? I would rather create something with you then add a line on top”. I was very surprised because I would never dare to ask for such a profound contribution – I suspected that this might be too much for Óli, regarding his tight schedule but apparently I was wrong. I said “Alright, I will be back in 2 weeks”. We met again in late October and spent the whole day simply improvising and jamming with each other. It felt just so good, natural and fun. We both felt easy and happy and simply enjoyed every second of creating something in such a genuine and free way. I was acting cool but inside my heart was racing like crazy – it felt unreal. We came up with a couple of ideas but it was the last song that really felt right and fresh. The main motif was intonated by Ólafur on his famous Korg synthesizer and we loved the ambiguous and quiet character of it so much that we basically started to improvise on both of the pianos simultaneously – me on the small pianola and Ólafur on the Kawai upright. Instead of staying at the keyboard for the whole time I decided to record my vocals on top which we cut and looped later on. The whispery vocals melted gently into the soft sounds of Korg and Juno, tangled with celestial passages of tiny pianola and warm chords played on his Kawai. I adored the result and felt that we managed to come up with something new for both of us which made me really excited.Likes : 19206

Caption : This is me proudly holding my 3rd solo album “Ghosts”. I am just utterly happy and speechless today and I simply adore this record and everyone who was involved in making it. I smile when I think about creating it, collecting all the tracks and the long and winding journey through producing them. I admire the amazing guests and my favorite artists: @olafurarnalds, @duncan_bellamy_ and @patrickwatsonofficial who contributed to the record in such a profound way. I admire your talent, kindness and it is difficult to express how fascinating it was for me to observe your workflow and creative process. I adore all my patient sound engineers: @viktorarnason, @gijsvanklooster, @manfizazzi, @ignacy.gruszecki, @ataa_d, @donadello and the kindest man on earth: Greg Freeman who gathered all my chaotic ideas and managed to tangle them all together in one mix . Huge thanks to the amazing musicians and performers and the legendary @johnkeithdavis1 from @metropolisstudios for mastering the record. I am in love with a cover image that was captured during one of the summer nights last year by a dear friend @reinkooyman and Veil Projects for the most elegant and cool album design, which I am obsessed with. I adore you truly and I am just happy and grateful to send “Ghosts” to the world today. It is released by the dearest label: @gondwanarecords ecords who put so much heart and attention to it that it’s difficult to process it. Thanks for supporting me and my music and allowing me to expand my musical universe. I hope “Ghosts” will become your everyday soundtrack. Love, H. P.S. Excuse my excitement but the 3rd solo album is a weird thing.Likes : 13655

Caption : I am so happy to share with you our performance from the legendary “Tiny Desk” at @nprmusic in Washington. It was filmed on one of the last days of November 23′, during my tour in North America. We arrived the day before, unfortunately both me and @ziemowitklimek were sick and feeling unwell after the first intense week in the States and a double show in NYC the day earlier. I felt almost woozy but thrilled on the other side and was really looking forward to the shooting day to come. I’ve already done a handful of challenging sessions in my life but this one seemed extreme. Firstly, I can hardly think of a more bizarre environment for an artistic performance – an open space office with its famous flamboyant corner, adorned with the oddest collection of clutter (which you are certainly dying to contribute to yourself). Secondly – the way you are going to perform – with no monitors, click, or in my case, vocal effects which feels completely terrifying at the first sight but on the other hand push you to rethink and reorchestrate your regular, dull setup. And lastly, the place and the people, the “Tiny” thing! The amount of anticipation and fear that is haunting you once your date with NPR is confirmed is enormous. And it is very understandable. So the moment when you finally arrive at the radio’s parking slot and everyone is immediately taking care of you and simply behaving like the kindest and most fun people on Earth is an utter relief (and let’s be frank – shock). The self doubt and stress is still in the air but the profound joy of making together something that might actually sound unique blurs the spiky edges and breaks the ice. To be very honest I don’t remember much from this day. I was too giddy and too sick. But when I watched the video last Monday in the studio with my friend we were both similarly excited and happy. It feels simply unreal to me to see myself and Ziemo jamming there around, acting totally relaxed and focused. And arguably having a lot of genuine fun making music together. @nprmusic, @bob_boilen, the amazing “Tiny Desk” team and everyone else involved – thank you!Likes : 10190

Caption : Time flies – as a poet once said. It has been 5 years since the release of my debut album “Esja”. It feels like ages ago but at the same time as it could be just yesterday. “Esja” completely changed my life and pushed it to a new direction. I would never even dream of being able to make a living from composing and performing my own music beforehand. Maybe this is the reason why (although I am still embarrassed when listening to some of the songs now) the album captures something utterly genuine and pure. Not perfectly estimated or precisely planned, just a set of recordings rendered out of curiosity and passion. Fragile, sometimes naive, but truly mirroring this unique moment of creating something from scratch. I started to record Esja already in 2016, I took a couple of months break from my Studies in Berlin (back then I was still studying classical music) and decided to spend this time on developing my own tunes. This journey hadn’t been planned either so recordings were happening spontaneously whenever me and my sound engineer Piotr were able to gather some microphones and meet at my apartment in Warsaw. I was still moonlighting here and there and didn’t have an idea about the music market at all. I just felt I needed to do it otherwise I would go mad. Couple of months later I met Bergurg Thorisson through my best friend in Berlin. Bergur was still a kid in 2017 but already massively hailed for engineering his own microphones and working with such legends as Björk. He invited me over to Iceland to continue my recordings and I didn’t think twice. I remember arriving in late August to Reykjavik after a horrendously long journey. I was totally knackered and starving but too shy to say it out loud. Bergur took me for ice-creams instead and we ended up taking a picture of this hilarious moment. I spent a week in Iceland. Bergur was working simultaneously on Björk’s new album so we had to record my stuff in the evenings or during the night, half-asleep, lucidly dreaming (Bergur – you are a legend). I remember I learnt then that the best takes capture the entire performances, edits are usually not helping the mood and certain drive of the song.Likes : 9898

Caption : Some surprising news arrived yesterday – I was happy to learn that I was awarded with two @fryderykfestiwal awards yesterday night (Polish music industry awards) for the best female artist and producer. I spent an evening with my close friend and a book (still recovering from touring madness) cherishing these little victories with an endearing smile and homemade pumpkin soup. Thanks @natalia_przybysz_official for your beautiful (promised) dance when receiving the prize for me – utterly grateful and impressed 🙂 Have a nice day guys! Photo by dear @gallamartynaLikes : 9827

Caption : I’m thrilled to announce that I had a pleasure to score the magnificent new film ‘Sentimental Value’ by one of my favorite directors Joachim Trier and that it will be premiered at Cannes Festival at the main competition. There will be probably more time to share insights of working with Joachim and how incredibly inspiring his filmmaking is but I felt just truly special to work on the body of work that I genuinely admired, appreciated and ‘felt’ which is a fairly rare moment. Congratulations to the whole team! Well done!Likes : 9306

Caption : It has been exactly one month since I released my 3rd solo album “Ghosts” and it really feels rather like a week or couple of busy, dizzy but graceful days orchestrated by thoughtful planning and sweetness of coincidences. It is also two months since I have been dancing myself in the corner for old-school kids, cherishing myself with books and papers, occasionally mixed with joy of silly loitering and dawdling (this word I definitely can’t pronounce!) without even a touch of the regret that I am missing something out. Sometimes changes surprise you more than expected and they become just a crude and simple reality that feels rather like the only possible truth than a turning point. On top of that we went on this impossible but exciting tour – 24 shows during one month – I can’t even comprehend it fully but we’ve made it and it is now officially a history written with colourful pencils, randomly collected sticks, brushes and other clutter that was available and looked useful. I grin softly thinking of my lovely team who became my closest family and together we could bravely face the weirdest gifts of fate, countless amount of load ins and load outs, cable spaghettis, never ending gaffer tapes, concussion, mourns after lost socks and jackets and collective support during couple of heavy mental and physical breakdowns but also overwhelming moments of happiness. I adore everyone who joined us – both on stage or behind it, but also everyone who showed up and bought a ticket or simply did his best to get a spot on the guestlist. It was a pleasure. @ataa_d, @ziemowitklimek, @midomo, @human_trax, @pi.lar.503, @antoonfilatov, @theres_a_baumgartner, Chris, @Sydney, Leo, @pabscampanaro , @stuartbailes, @viktorarnason, @olafurarnalds, Adi, Robert – you are real legends! I ponder about it just because all these little things happening made this premiere (and ultimately this album) even more unique from what I expected. They made it very personal and private. Intimate and vulnerable. Unbelievably tender, genuine, almost whispered.Likes : 7967

Caption : It’s Out! Don’t Break My Heart was originally composed in 2017. There was something extremely nostalgic about the original version of the song and I let myself performed it couple of times but I knew that it could never make it to any of my future albums because of its completely old school vibe. I lost interest in the track for a while and let it live its own life till the moment I started to work with @duncan_bellamy_ from my beloved band @PorticoQuartet, which has been such a significant inspiration for me. I asked Duncan if he would be interested in collaborating on a couple of songs for my upcoming album and he agreed. Differently to Patrick Watson, who I invited to work on “Dancing with Ghosts”, I proposed to have a bit of an opposite workflow. Instead of sending Duncan a ready song, I asked him to share with me some selected beats, loops or sequences that I could be inspired by. I didn’t want him to follow the song structure because I am usually using very simple rhythm motives. I wanted rather to follow his intuition in time and rework my own ideas around his beats. This is what happend with DBMH. I found this one terrific loop and pitched it down, so it became deeper and more groovy. Without a reason I thought about singing on top of it my old song “Don’t Break My Heart” even though it was composed in a different metrum and key. This resulted not only in the change in melody but even in the song’s structure and lyrics. And it ultimately felt right. I immediately sent it to Duncan and luckily he liked it as well and added on top an almost translucent layer of live drums which filled the missing gap in the track. It was a tremendously fervent moment from when I just let myself flow with music, soaking the track with a vast amount of choirs and vocal lines and thrilling layers of moog, recorded by my dear friend @ziemowitklimek. DBMH, which used to be an apotheosis of melancholy, received a new character and was embedded in an utterly new soundscape. It became my personal anthem, which endured through time, experiences and letting me overcome my boundaries in expressing my feelings in front of the listeners. You need guts to sing it on stage, believe me.Likes : 7801

Caption : My tour starts just in a couple of days and I thought that it is a nice moment to reveal a bit more about the instruments that became such a significant aspect of my shows – Hoffmann / @bechstein.official pianos – upright and grand. Possibly only a pianist can really appreciate how utterly life changing it is to be able to play everyday on the same keyboard, enjoying this rare luxury of recognizing familiar distances and heights, sounds and silences. It’s difficult for me to come back to my pre-piano memories, I have been working with this wonderful creature for more than 25 years now and very possibly spent in front of the “black and whites” most of my life. I find something profoundly personal in Hoffmann pianos, allowing me to feel both comfortable but also excited on stage and during my recordings. Thoroughly built, with carefully picked elements and warm, rich sound – they became my close companions, witnessing my vulnerable and vehement musical moments. Enjoy this little video telling a story about our relationship 🙂 Director: @miszczynski_ Dop: @kubastoszek 2nd Unit: @latanik.lukaszLikes : 6897

Caption : Hey everyone, So happy to announce that my new album ‘Nostalgia’ will be out on 27th September on @gondwanarecords . You can already listen to its first track, “It Comes in Waves”. The album was recorded live with String Ensemble at the Ghosts album launch in Studio 1 of Polish Radio, Warsaw and in concert at the Roundhouse, London on October 6 & 26 2023. I am extremely excited because this release is marking a new chapter in my artistic career as I decided to manifest it not only through music but also through my photographs and texts which are a result of the long term fascination with the space of Polish Radio in Warsaw, which has been serving me for many years as a safe haven for my recordings, as well as a motivation to engage in a dialogue with my own Eastern European identity. The entire operation of creating this body of work was an absolute joy – starting from recording it, mixing, remixing and mastering a couple of months later, but also to visit the space afterwards and convey its essence through the lens of the analogue camera and my own eyes, expanding a usual means of expression with new tools and possibilities. The film rolls were meticulously developed and scanned at the Documentary and Film Studio in Warsaw, curated, orchestrated into a form of a booklet with Veil Projects & @nicola.cholewa and carefully printed. On every page you will find my texts and ruminations about all the tracks, following each step of the creative process, dissecting it, explaining its origins and enmeshed trajectory. From Warsaw to London, from London to Warsaw. For those of you based in London, you are invited to join a unique audio-visual experience. I will celebrate the release of this new album at ICA London on September 25th, playing it in full for the first time along with a specially commissioned film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A. Big bow to the entire restless team who made my otherworldly dreams came true. Thank you, H You can listen & pre-order now via BandcampLikes : 6509

Caption : NON FICTION will be out tomorrow friday 14/11/2025 It’s sort of a mad step – instrumental work inhabiting unpopular time units – free, violent, gentle and soft. Do we need this sort of movements, gestures? I’m curious what you’ll think, if it makes you think, what does it make you feel – if at all Photo by @olivia.wunscheLikes : 5817

Caption : Thank you so much for such a warm welcome to my song “Don’t Break My Heart” featuring amazing Duncan Bellamy. It is utterly fascinating to me – the process of micro-dosing the “Ghosts” flavours, one by one. I can just wonder how this combination feels to you now, how it tastes. I wanted to say a couple of words about the video that accompanies the track because Friday’s premiere felt already tumultuous 🙂 It is becoming a tradition that one of my album’s videoclips is directed by a friend of mine: Mateusz Miszczyński, whose other videos (Glass, Leaving, Live from Studio S2) shaped the visual side of my music. I offered Mateusz to work on Don’t Break My Heart because he already knew the original version of the song. He says: “For me the story of DBMH began much earlier than the video itself. It was the very first song that Hania sent me a few years ago, still before her debut album. I remember I was surprised by how different it was compared to the rest of her music. The song somehow stood out and intrigued me. As the topic resurfaced, I already knew that we were working on something personal, perhaps more than ever.” The main idea of the location came from a coincidental find in Luxembourg, where I was supposed to perform in an old main. The show didn’t happen in the end and also we were not allowed to shoot there ultimately but the idea was so strong and frantic that we kept it alive. I had this idea to capture me biking in the main’s tunnels, which we thought could refer to the human mind and wandering through our own tortuous thoughts and fixations. It felt completely weird and wry that’s why we thought it’s just perfectly fitting the track. We decided to contrast the unassuming and casual activity of riding the bike with something very opposite: murky and ambiguous: empty spaces, corridors, hallways & elusive characters that pass my way. Colours and feelings were ardently inspired by creators of eastern european tradition of cinematography such as Andrey Tarkovsky or Bogdan Dziworski, & twisted with current nostalgia for early James Blake or Bat For Lashes videos. The video was shot entirely on film (Kodak) with photography direction by Jakub Stoszek.Likes : 5749
