Alyson Stoner Instagram – When’s the last time you felt like your cup was full? When do you think it could be full again?
Side effect of savoring a few sweet hours in nature: the bitter taste of returning to a life that feels imbalanced and disconnected. This season has a particularly high number of challenges. Meanwhile, my schedule has no room for slowness, and there’s little room for community or processing. I’m using all my resilience tools to keep racing around the track, but the wear and tear are real, and I’ll need to find the exit ramp before my body breaks down.
I had a business meeting after the walk, and it brought me to exasperation. The businessman demanded my team prove our expertise, prove our accolades and formulas, prove our success metrics. He interrogated us with “trick questions” to see if we could play the game of “scale and profit” with the big guys. It felt like such a hostile contrast to the heartbeat of our company @movementgenius as well as the care & collaboration needed to support *real* people’s well-being.
I felt defeated, yet also resolved to not become so disconnected that I begin to behave like him. At this moment, I’m as far from work-life balance as I ever hope to be. The quiet and lush forest plus his compassionless voice were two opposite sides of the same coin, one pulling and the other pushing me back to find center.
