Not your average side hustle. 🥸 Some fun roles throughout the years. And yes, it was a particular honor to voice a dozen different “screaming girls” in Justin Bieber’s documentary as well as to teach your child the alphabet inside the toy that never stopped playing in your living room. Sending care to everyone coming forward in the #QuietOnSet docuseries. Committed to seeing more accountability and reform, and grateful that this continues urgent conversations around child safety, child labor, and children in media. (Important to note: I’m on-location working and haven’t seen the series myself yet. through direct messages with folks involved, I’m learning about the information shared and how it’s being received.) 💜 Alt. text: A screenshot of an article from Slate titled “Nickelodeon’s #MeToo Story was Hiding in Plain Sight”
To be clear: I *fully support* everyone choosing the path of intimacy (or non-intimacy) that aligns with their values/beliefs/preferences. This was a glimpse into my younger self trying to make sense of social pressures personal development shifting belief systems. For me, I remain fondly grateful for this memory and the beauty that came with it. 🙆🏻 Thanks for having me @twodykesandamic! 💜 Alt text: Alyson sitting across from @mckgoodwin @rachelsafety talking into a mic.

When’s the last time you felt like your cup was full? When do you think it could be full again? Side effect of savoring a few sweet hours in nature: the bitter taste of returning to a life that feels imbalanced and disconnected. This season has a particularly high number of challenges. Meanwhile, my schedule has no room for slowness, and there’s little room for community or processing. I’m using all my resilience tools to keep racing around the track, but the wear and tear are real, and I’ll need to find the exit ramp before my body breaks down. I had a business meeting after the walk, and it brought me to exasperation. The businessman demanded my team prove our expertise, prove our accolades and formulas, prove our success metrics. He interrogated us with “trick questions” to see if we could play the game of “scale and profit” with the big guys. It felt like such a hostile contrast to the heartbeat of our company @movementgenius as well as the care & collaboration needed to support *real* people’s well-being. I felt defeated, yet also resolved to not become so disconnected that I begin to behave like him. At this moment, I’m as far from work-life balance as I ever hope to be. The quiet and lush forest plus his compassionless voice were two opposite sides of the same coin, one pulling and the other pushing me back to find center. Alt text avaible

The tears started flowing with this question. 🥲💜 Thank you to @manifestivalpodcast and @thedanettemay for having me. It’s a new thing to wear my heart on my sleeve and speak off the cuff… thanks for creating room for humanness. The learning never stops. 🌱 The advocacy for children on set and online continues, and I’m thankful for @twodykesandamic for bringing this up in our chat. 💜 Alt text: Alyson sits and chats across from @mckgoodwin @rachelsafety in a podcast studio.

The space artists need @feyblhouse 🚨😍 I can feel the momentum and progress! These renowned creatives are making the community space for performers and artists that we need. Send some love to their Gofundme! I put the link in my bio. 💜 Alt text: Alyson talking to camera wearing a black shirt and a white beanie.
Nerd alert 🚨 there are some facinating research papers on the phenomenology of performing — in one moment, it can be embodied catharsis, and another, dissociative splitting. The brain regions activated and physiological reactions help signal what the real effect and impact are of “playing pretend,” or keeping up a persona, for the individual. Perhaps you find yourself hiding under a persona, too. Gentle reminder, we’re all just humans in progress. 💜 Alt text: Alyson talks into a microphone, wearing a yellow sweater and grey beanie.

😩 It’s been an incredibly stressful day. How do you avoid emotionally exploding on your colleagues? This is what @alysonstoner learned to identify as “trigger stacking.” Clinician Rebecca Grodzki reminded Stoner that we experience “just enough stressors on top of each other without taking a moment to process, express, and release the stress that by the end, it’s almost like you’re a can of soda and you’ve been shaken up and you’re going to explode.” Stoner, an actor and founder of @movementgenius, says brief resets throughout the day help you consciously “unscrew the cap” to maintain balance. If you feel it’s necessary, communicate your needs and boundaries, as well as potential solutions, to those around you to help avoid the stressors in the first place.
