Trigger Warning: genocide Every day it reverberates louder to do the deep work, and every day the horrors demand accountability. The genocide against Palestinian lives must end. In addition to creating visibility on social media, you can also: ⁃ contact your representatives demanding an immediate ceasefire; there are premade messages with a quick Google search ⁃ if accessible, donate to humanitarian organizations providing aid and supplies (I trust the work that @searchforcommonground @wckitchen @mecaforpeace are doing, but feel free to add others) ⁃ seek intentional community to process and manage the grief / trauma, and cultivate resilience in order to sustain action. To be clear: I condemn genocide, anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab racism, and Islamophobia. I also condemn Hamas and any acts of terrorism, as well as anti-semitism and any act of hatred or discrimination towards someone for their faith and identity. I also acknowledge this is not the only genocide and horrific crisis happening in the world. There is Congo, Sudan, Haiti, and millions of people unpictured and unnamed experiencing oppression, including in my own city and country. It is up to all of us to leave the world better than we found it.
Recommendations on Docs/Books for Food Systems Issues? Agriculture? Food Inequity? Sustainability? 🧠⬇️ 🌱 I’ve been learning a lot about food systems in the recent months, and trying to adjust my role in growing, sharing, and eating locally grown foods, in becoming a wiser consumer, in considering community access and food equity, in adjusting my own diet to better nourish my system, and in taking action regarding environmental concerns. Unsurprisingly, it’s illuminating and altering every aspect of life from the inside-out and outside-in. If you have expertise and/or recommendations for deeper education and actions to take, please pool them for the community below. 👇🏻 Note: the last two images in this carousel are from the documentary Omnivore, episodes “Banana” and “Salt.” It was illuminating to learn about the banana pandemic and just how much of our human history is tethered to salt. Curious to keep watching!
