fun fact about this old piece, it was entirely painted using one black Crayola black marker. I went to a science open house thing at my daughter’s elementary and they had a section where they showed how black markers can be broken down into different colors when wet and they used coffee machine filters to show us. I went home and wet an old Crayola black marker and it was totally true. very cool experiment. the white splatter was just fw white acrylic. red eyes were from a Pentel brush pen #mrfreeze

redcarpet- one of the last pieces I drew at an oversized scale, I believe it was roughly 22×30? the owner of it now can correct me if I’m wrong. it was entirely influenced by my favorite Art Nouveau/ Jugendstil artist #GustavKlimt during his ambivalent muse phase. I remember selling it years back when I moved into my house and it paid for a new fridge, washer and dryer, and my new @wacom . best deal ever but now that all those things are old worn down and suck ( except the wacom- customer service is 💯, they’ve replaced the old one with a brand new, even after warranty expired -because they kick ass) I want my goddamn art back. jk but yeah, nothing lasts and appreciates like art. I know y’all hoping I’ll die tomorrow though >:l 🙂

This was part of the Darkness & Light: Hope and Heroes DC Comics Exhibit/Gallery I originally pitched Lil Gotham with Tim Drake and not Damian, but eventually we used Damian since he was the current Robin #lilgotham

one time i had two Flash covers due the same week and only had time to paint one, but also wanted to work on my digital skills as well. it worked out ⚡
very very ways back sketch. I had about 5 years of mechanical and architectural design before I started working in comics, so most things I draw are functional and accurate. it’s all in the details. jk none of that was true.
took off last week with my sketchbook and some clean laundry in a backpack to visit some of my favorite people, Toronto, Philly, the Ozarks all in 10 days, absolute amazing time visiting comics shops, signing some books, sketching in my hotel or on someone’s couch all day, playing boardgames all night and rapping horribly ( though cousin was on point 👏 @asiantreat ) love these people and couldn’t ask for more of a family, missing a @seanrisley , dude had to go see a man about a horse or something idk

last month , and April? was national guitar month and I tried to break out the acoustic to give it one more try. turns out I still can’t play a single chord. at one point I had to decide to spend 20 hours a day either getting better at something I already knew how to do and maybe get a job doing it or getting really mediocre at something I really loved but sucked at. sadly I chose rent money. I still love it to death and want to learn. here’s pictures of me playing to my dog Rocket and my buddy @joeydoddart playing to my son. here’s some folks I follow that are amazing and madly jealous of, you should check them out as well- @justinholmanrocks @joshsmithguitarzan @codyqueenofinstagram @richard_friend @the_navigator2113 @ehpoque @joeydoddart if I left anyone out it’s because you don’t post enough videos playing guitar maybe, please tag yourselves here *guitars in pics are all my kid’s, they are wildly talented in music thanks to @christinapiano
