John Simm Instagram – David Soul was a massive childhood hero of mine. Starsky & Hutch was hands down my favourite TV show as a kid, (along with The Six Million Dollar Man) and the adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot’ in which he starred with James Mason, scared the living shit out of me like nothing before or since. Sometime in the mid 90’s I saw David at a party, I don’t usually do this sort of thing but I simply had to say something to him, so I nervously approached and said “David. Every kid on every street in every town used to play Starsky & Hutch… and I was always Hutch because I had blonde hair…” he considered this and looked at me for a few seconds, and said “You know what kid… I was always Hutch too.” He then gave me a playful, pretend punch on the jaw, smiled his Hutch smile, and walked away. 😍🤯
What a guy.
