I know this feeling too well. For most of my childhood, I felt like this – like I didn’t have any friends. I was bullied and picked on and then became a bully to ease the pain. I felt like I always said the wrong thing, and then my friends would turn on me or disappear. I wish I had the guts to go house to house like this. What a hero.

After a nearly decade long battle with early onset Alzheimer’s, and due to some complications resulting from medical negligence … my dear cousin (uncle) Chip has transitioned to the next world at 62.
I’ve known Chip my whole life, I was the ring bearer in his and my cousin Tammy’s wedding. When my Nana Grace got dementia towards the end of her life he and Tammy took her in and became her caregivers for over 10 years. Imagine being so open and kind hearted that you become the caregiver to your spouses mother. That was Chip. He was a gentle, kind, and brilliant man. He was a software engineer and guitar player. His happy place was in the mountains skiing slaloms. He never lost his smile and gentle spirit and yet it was so heartbreaking to see what this disease did to his beautiful mind.
Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease and my heart goes out to all of those suffering from its grip everyday.

I always felt a bit weird having my face on the cover as I knew it would be a barrier for men to pick up the book (We settled on the half-face). Look, it’s hard enough for us men to read a book about masculinity that challenges us let alone one with some Italian looking guys mug on it, so once I heard men were taking the cover off the book when reading it in public…I knew it was a chance to design a beautiful new cover. 😂 So… to all the men who were tempted to read Man Enough, but didn’t… worry no longer; this version is for you and me, my friend.
