Justin Baldoni Instagram – After a nearly decade long battle with early onset Alzheimer’s, and due to some complications resulting from medical negligence … my dear cousin (uncle) Chip has transitioned to the next world at 62. I’ve known Chip my whole life, I was the ring bearer in his and my cousin Tammy’s wedding. When my Nana Grace got dementia towards the end of her life he and Tammy took her in and became her caregivers for over 10 years. Imagine being so open and kind hearted that you become the caregiver to your spouses mother. That was Chip. He was a gentle, kind, and brilliant man. He was a software engineer and guitar player. His happy place was in the mountains skiing slaloms. He never lost his smile and gentle spirit and yet it was so heartbreaking to see what this disease did to his beautiful mind. Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease and my heart goes out to all of those suffering from its grip everyday. If you have a minute, send a prayer up for his beautiful soul for my cousin Tammy, as she sets out on this next stage of her life without her partner of nearly forty years. Life is so damn fragile. I know it’s cliché, but spend the time with the people you love doing the things you love. Life’s too short.
