Lee Hsien Loong Instagram – My thanks to President @jokowi for hosting my delegation and me to the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat in Bogor today. This was our seventh and final Retreat together, as both of us will soon be stepping down from our respective roles.
President Jokowi and I reviewed the excellent progress in bilateral relations over the past decade. One major achievement was the Expanded Framework Agreements on airspace, defence and extradition that came into force in March 2024.
Today our ministers signed an MOU on mangrove ecosystems, and a joint update on defence cooperation. We also agreed to step up cooperation in new and emerging areas such as the digital economy, sustainability and healthcare.
Indonesia is our largest neighbour and the largest economy in @asean. Its prosperity and stability will uplift and benefit the rest of the region. Singapore will strengthen our ties with Indonesia in the spirit of mutual benefit and respect.
I thank President Jokowi for his leadership and his commitment to Indonesia’s ties with Singapore. I have deeply appreciated working with him to strengthen trust and cooperation between our countries, and I wish him the very best.
I am confident that the next generation of Singapore and Indonesia’s leaders will take the bilateral relationship to even greater heights. – LHL
