We had a useful exchange of views on international and regional developments.
The continued support by Congress is important for the strong partnership between Singapore and the US. It is 20 years since the US-Singapore FTA entered into force, after it was ratified by Congress in 2003. The FTA has underpinned our robust economic ties, benefitted both our economies, and made us a gateway for US companies to the region.
I welcome the US’ sustained engagement in Southeast Asia, and hope the delegation had a fruitful stay in Singapore. – LHL
