And for the record I’ve not been excited about voting for re-election. Here’s what I do know: we’ve been conditioned (duped, hoodwinked) into focusing on Presidential elections and ignoring the midterms. The President passes or vetos bills. Policies, bills, & laws are created in Congress so every two years we miss the opportunity to vote people in or out of office who have more of a direct impact on our communities interests & well being. The. President. Does. Not. Make. Laws. So by the time we vote for president, the trains have already left the station. I don’t care if you don’t care for Biden, I need you to look at the power the reigning party has. During the last administration, did you know McConnell appointed 210 federal conservative judges across the country? Judges who will uphold every nuance of law enacted to keep you in your place. Do you understand that Roe V. Wade, Affirmative Action AND the Voting Rights Act have all been rolled back bc of who our last POTUS appointed to the Supreme Court for life? The NAACP can no longer sue when our voting rights have been obstructed. I understand withholding our vote in theory. I do wholeheartedly. But realistically, where does that leave us? On the sidelines while people like these will be voting. Not voting puts you on the sidelines w no real right to complain. But you will complain. So complain to the people who have convinced you not to vote and sit idly by to watch more of your rights be taken away. If our vote doesn’t matter, then why are the GOP suppressing our vote at every angle they can? I invite any intelligent perspective on what withholding our vote actually gets us.
