Oh and bunch of other artists where I looked at their work and thought ‘’I could do that’’. Not in a judgemental way. In a ‘’So I’m going too’’ kind of way.
I saw Pollock and I thought that’s cool and I can do that. I saw Rothko and thought what a piss take.
I can take the piss*then I saw one in real life-It blew me away.
Being around Damien Hirst in the 90’s was a pivotal art moment for me. Oh,art can be Rock and Roll, a bit PT Barnum and most defiantly naughty.
Damien is like the magician that will show you how the tricks done but while he’d doing it you realise in showing you the trick he’s just involved you in a more complex trick that he’ll just finish with a wink and no explanation .”Ta Da’’ and off he goes.
Most music doesn’t speak to me, most art too.
But the stuff that does changed my life.The stuff that does took me places.The stuff that does gave me a career and a purpose.
