Grace Helbig Instagram – I’m taking a little break from social media but popping in to acknowledge my first cancerversary. A year ago today I got my official breast cancer diagnosis. Happy one year, left breast! I took this video after I woke up from my lumpectomy last December. I was feeling preeetty good after months of feeling like shit. I felt like I got one over on the thing that was trying to get one over on me. Like I tricked the trickster. On this day last June, right after I told Elliott that I had breast cancer, a huge coyote ran across the front of our house and down our driveway. Like, literally the moment after I said it. He sent me this passage from a book he was reading for school that afternoon when we got back from the doctor’s office. Who knows what anything really means, but it made me feel hopeful. And maybe that the universe was reminding me to look for the absurd/silly/sly moments in the face of something so serious. Who even knows! It’s been a tricky year, but there’s been a lot of weird good that’s happened too. Thanks for the support along the way. And don’t forget to get checked! Not taking care of yourself?
