Today I met her. Daughter of daughter. In her precious tiny face, I saw the all of all of us. Family-future, present, past, intermingling, time matter still soft, fluid. A brand new baby body here, solidly here, yet still a star in flux, gathering earthly strength, retaining divine light. Frankie has made her arrival, and she is GRAND.
It’s been a week much of the ice cream has melted. I wonder how many rainbows have been folded up, glitter swept away ? > 7 days ago I received one of the greatest honors (& mutha is blessed to have a few) > The inaugural “Elle Moxley Starship Humanitarian Award” at @mpjinstitute Revival of Love in the company of other ICON honorees @therealgialove @ihartericka > it is my privilege to be embraced by the progressive loving, community, movement creative consciousness @elle_moxley has created through her human rights organization – Black Trans Rights are human rights – right on? I wonder how many socialites corporations will give money platforms to Black Trans Folk, LGBTQ organizations in July or November? when the floats are broken down, cameras off, Kiki’s are over, is when vulnerable communities need protection, love solidarity the most. I hope we all keep waving flags texting donations year round. We fight for justice joy year round. We practice loving like Love really is Love, endlessly.

Godspeed good doctor (little fun fact I learned from her – she was a project manager at Planned Parenthood in Harlem in the late 1960s) #RIPDrRuth

Queen of Black Women in the. Democratic Party. Since 1994 @sheilajacksonlee wore a heavy elegant crown made of braids advocating for Black folk. Now an ancestor among many Black women who’ve paved the way for this moment. Thank you for your service beloved sister. #RIPSheilaJacksonLee

“On the catwalk she is rooted in a long tradition of dignified defiance. She walks like a warrior, and navigates the territory of high fashion with supernatural flair. She does so in the tradition of a revolutionary, navigating “the only path” up into the shelter of the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, and like the spy sneaking through murky trails along the Combahee River in South Carolina, obtaining intelligence to gain freedom. She walks the runway with the confidence of the activist who responded to violence by inspiring masses to march and dance with flamboyance through the streets of Notting Hill. She walks with the soul and power of the Black church. She walks with the creativity and beauty of the ballroom scene. Naomi Campbell walks in the spirit of Black people everywhere throughout time, walking themselves into self-liberation with spectacular style.” I’ve never written about anyone twice -when @lrpeoples asked me to write the @naomi cover story for her first September Issue of @nymag – asking me to locate Naomi in the fashion cultural cannon – it was an honor – though there was something left on the table of my imagination to explore-her walk. When invited to write the cover story for the current @vamuseum Naomi Campbell exhibit – I stepped to it. #Naomi #QueenNanny #HarrietTubman #ClaudiaJones #victoriaalbertmuseum #FashionIcon

This day 2 years ago Greg Tate entered the ancestral realm. Still unreal and yet his energy, so unambiguously present, as evidenced by this monumental painting by his soul brother Arthur Jafa who correctly put him on the same scale as Miles. Greg’s spirit looms large over us all. AJ @anamibia is an astronaut of an artist #GregTate & #ArthurJafa death did not them part.
Honored to call Jenisha from Kentucky my editor at @theatlantic THIS. A devastatingly beautiful and brave essay by @iamjournalism
