Plabita Borthakur Instagram – Xewali phul is very special to me. It’s not my favorite flower, but it is my Ma’s favorite flower. We used to have a Xewali tree in the house I grew up in, and every day during the Xewali season, my dad would go to the garden first thing in the morning and pick up a fistful of flowers from the grass, holding them carefully to not crush them, and place them on the bedside table next to my mum so she can wake up with it’s fragrance. On days when she is up before him, he’d bring the flowers to her and put his palm in front of her so she could smell them. We lived in that house for about 20 years and every season my mum got Xewali phul.
Now they live in an apartment and there’s no Xewali tree. But on days they go for their morning walks, they cross one 🙂 | Posted on 20/Jan/2024 16:15:28
