My daughter came home from school the other day saying that a girl had googled me and found photos in a magazine where I had done a shoot showing off my body and as a result called me a “PORN STAR”. I have to also share that this girl is a Muslim, she took 2 days off school to celebrate EID , no doubt her family fasted and prayed to God and she’s probably prays at home – reciting the words of the holy Quran. My daughter is 13 years old and goes to an all girls school. The rumour spread by this girl has upset her. I do not blame this girl for saying what she has, I blame her parents – children only act out what they see and hear at home – language and behaviour is absorbed by children. The reason I mention this child’s culture and religion is because I also was brought up in that very same environment where to see a woman celebrating her body and you immediately relate it to “sex” “shame” “guilt” “derogatory terms”. The problem is that so many women are so disconnected from loving their bodies that as they age, they are the ones that suffer the most from pain, illness and long term health issues! Here’s some facts for you : Compared to other religious groups, Muslims in the UK have the highest age‐standardised rate of reported ill health (13% for males, 16% for females) and disability (24% of females, 21% of males), with widespread poverty and deprivation. ( ncbi) As a 54 year old Asian woman, I have always been judged by the very people that look like me and share my religious and cultural heritage for what I “wear and look like” rather than what I do and have achieved. It does not bother me – part of healing is to let go of “what other people do” – this 13 year old girl is projecting her own unhappiness, jealousy, insecurities etc. One of the biggest personal freedoms I have achieved as a woman is to wear what I like, when I like and to feel amazing in my skin without any feelings of shame, guilt or fear. Seeing brown women confident in their bodies, celebrating their health and skin is still a taboo subject … but until you see badass women like me kick that taboo down, the backward mindset will prevail. #bodyconfience #woman #badass

Real Bodies, Real Beauty ✨🍃 I want to talk about the importance of seeing real bodies. We need to see stretch marks, scars, wobbly bits, healthy weights, and small boobs. It’s crucial for us women to appreciate our bodies and balance out all the images of perfection we’re bombarded with. For years, I battled with how my body looks, focusing on its superficial aspects and constantly comparing myself to others. But having this time to myself, healing, relaxing, and being still, I’ve learned something profound. I need to let go of the fear about myself, not care about others’ judgments, and be grateful for my body. This vessel through which I live life deserves care, love, and respect. As long as I’m feeding it well, moving it, and loving it, it will serve me for a good quality of life. We women must see REAL, ordinary, different-shaped bodies to not feel like there’s something wrong with us. Before having children, my body looked totally different. But I refuse to starve, restrict, or delude myself to get that body back. I’m a woman now, with a body that has delivered a child. I need to strengthen it, keep it relaxed, mobile, and healthy as I age. I do not have a flat stomach – but my core is strong. I do not have a thin waist – but my waist is strong. I do not have thin thighs – but my thighs are strong. I do not have thin arms – but my arms are strong. I do not have perfectly rounded glutes – but they are strong. To all my women out there – I understand the desire to lose a few pounds, feel better, and get healthier. But focus on the health benefits, not the shape or size. Start your journey with relaxing, being happy about who you are, and begin from a place of self-love and self-respect. Let’s celebrate our bodies for what they are: unique, powerful, and beautiful. 🌸❤️ #BodyPositivity #SelfLove #RealBodies #StrongWomen #HealthyLiving

Healing Journey: Finding Peace with My Late Father Part of my healing journey has been to find peace with my late father. I loved my dad; he meant everything to me. But growing up, we had a very challenging relationship. I just wanted him to show me his love, but all he could show me was anger and his expectations. He struggled to express love through words or physical gestures like hugs, which impacted me deeply as a child and shaped my character as I grew. Now, as a grown-up and a parent myself, I’ve started to reflect on that bond. I realize that there were many things he did for me out of love, which I didn’t appreciate at the time. His sacrifice of leaving his country and coming to the UK as an immigrant provided me with an incredible life. He did the best he could with what he had. I now see that he had his own issues, traumas, and battles that I didn’t understand back then. His values and love for nice things, plants, natural foods, and spirituality are now my values and have influenced the business I run today. I’ve always spoken about my dad from a place of anger. My healing sessions have given me a new perspective—to accept he wasn’t perfect but to focus on all the things he did right. He raised me in a safe, secure, and confident family dynamic. From this day forward, I will speak of my dad from a place of love because, at the end of the day, he was a very good human being who was flawed—aren’t we all? I am sharing this in case it resonates with anyone and helps them find peace in difficult relationships. It’s been very comforting for me to get to this place of love and respect for my dad. As a tribute to my dad, I’ve created a Father’s Day Collection – he always used oils on his skin – coming from Kashmir, he told me stories of the fruits, nuts, plants and herbs – how the women used mortar and pestal to grind and how fruits were dried in the sun …these stories fascinated and ignited my imagination…here I am running my own organic skincare oil business based on the Fruits of Kashmir. Happy Father’s Day. ❤️ #HealingJourney #FatherAndChild #FindingPeace #FamilyLove #Fatherhood #ImmigrantStory #PersonalGrowth #LoveAndRespect #HappyFathersDay
