My Dad was not very self-expressive but he loved all things nautical. So one day, very uncharacteristically, in a fit of interior design, Dad engaged in the only arts & crafts project I ever saw him shape. On our front porch, he hung a fishing net and then dotted it with plastic crabs, rubber lobsters, real seashells and fake fish (my sister @virginia_in_vienna is pictured in front of the net in question, circa 1980). Over forty years later, when we were shooting THE 4:30 MOVIE last summer, I asked production designer Ratface if he could replicate Dad’s decorations. And for the low, low cost of fifty bucks or so, the long-dead decor with which Dad once adorned our house returned from the grave to feature in a scene starring @jasonlee and @raedratch as movie versions of my parents! Presenting the first poster for THE 4:30 MOVIE – my 16th film, coming to theaters this fall from @saban_films! Set in the summer of 1986, we shot this sentimental journey of a flick at @smodcastlecinemas, the movie theater in #atlantichighlands, New Jersey that I grew up going to and now co-own with my friends. Created by the talented folks at @wearebond, this first poster showcases our fresh faced foursome of (from left) @nick_v_cirillo, @reednorthrup, @austinzajur and @sienaagudong – the incredible kids who carry the picture. I love how the designers put the billing block up top in the theater marquee. My name above the title is a compromise I made in lieu of using the “A Film By” credit (which I’ve always eschewed). We’re debuting the trailer at my Hall H panel on Saturday night at @comic_con – but if you’re not going, you can see it online Monday morning!
