Malcolm-Jamal Warner Instagram – This hurt my heart. I grew up listening to a legendary pianist who’s music was militant AF, without lyrics! I never got to meet my namesake. I was blessed enough to meet Dr. Betty Shabazz and be friendly with Malcolm X’s daughters. I wish I made it more of a mission to meet Brother Jamal. There was a time we were supposed to appear together, but it didn’t work out schedule wise. Hindsight is always 20/20. I wish I had been more diligent. If there’s someone who comes to mind that you want to see or reach out to, do not hesitate. Do not take it for granted that you will always have that opportunity. In recent years I hear more and more my mother tell me she thought about calling someone, didn’t, and then shortly hear that they passed. Please, spread that love when you feel it. Do not hesitate. My father was so enamored by Maclolm X and @ahmad.jamal.official that he made my first name from their names. People think I’m being picky when I point out when the hyphen in my name is either missing or misplaced. My first name is Malcolm-Jamal. I’m proud of it. I always have been.
