If you are waving a Hamas flag in the heart of Times Square to protest the death of one of the world’s worst terrorists, Ismail Haniyeh, you are not “pro-Palestinian.” You are pro-Hamas, anti-Israel, anti-American—anything but “pro-Palestinian.” Shilling for a barbaric terrorist organization that murdered 1200 Israelis and abducted civilians as old as 86 and as young as 9 months is itself barbaric.

That the Washington Post would shame the parents of Omer Neutra for keeping their focus on the captivity of their son is beneath contempt. There is a taboo against any acknowledgment of Israeli victimhood because the Narrative, as opposed to the Truth, demands that Israel be seen only as the villain. The willful amnesia about October 7th is no accident. Denial follows inevitably from demonization.

China commits genocide against Uyghurs. Russia invades Ukraine. Iran sponsors terrorism. North Korea threatens nuclear war. Yet the UN Special Rapporteur is calling for the world’s only Jewish State to be singled out for expulsion from the United Nations. The antisemitism of delegitimation has taken on a new intensity in a post-October 7th world.
Ismail Haniyeh was not a moderate but a monster. A violent extremist who reduced Palestinians to nothing more than human shields: “We need the blood of women, children, and the elderly of Gaza.” Imagine someone writing: “Tough-talking Nazi was seen as the more moderate face of the Third Reich.”
Israel has a right to defend itself. And so it did decisively—against the Houthis, an Iranian proxy that terrorizes not only Israelis but also its own people. I stand with Israel. #AmYisraelChai.
An Assistant Manager for City Lit Books has announced that he is “uncomfortable” hosting a “Zionist” at his bookstore. Since most Jews are Zionists, Mr. Schumann’s ban is tantamount to putting up a sign that reads: “No Jews Allowed.” Anyone who adopts a policy that excludes most Jews is guilty of institutionalizing antisemitism.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) came out with an advisory opinion asserting the illegality of a Jewish sovereign presence in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, the Western Wall, and the Temple Mount—the holiest sites in Judaism. An ICJ that definitively prejudges Jewish sovereignty over these Jewish sites to be illegitimate—outside the context of bilateral negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians—is exposing its own illegitimacy. It is acting not legally but politically. It is engaged not in law but in lawfare. When it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute, there has been nothing just about the International Court of Justice. Its judgements against Israel have been neither judicial nor judicious.
The Houthis, a terrorist organization based in Yemen and sponsored by Iran, has taken responsibility for a drone strike against Israel in Tel Aviv. The drone strike led to several casualties as well as an explosion one block away from the US embassy. The message of the Houthis, an Iranian proxy armed with Iranian drones, couldn’t be clearer: “Death to America. Death to Israel. Curse upon the Jews.” The time has come for the US State Department to designate the Houthis as a ‘Foreign Terrorist Organization.’
An explosion in Tel Aviv, resulting in several casualties. Awaiting more details as to the cause. Please pray for the safety of the Israeli people.
The DSA is not condemning Nicolás Maduro for disenfranchising the people of Venezuela. It is condemning the condemnation of a dictator who just stole an election. There is nothing “democratic” about the so-called ‘Democratic Socialists of America’ and its rejection of free and fair elections. Lest it be accused of deceptive advertising, the DSA should be renamed the Autocratic Socialists of America.

The attempt to scapegoat a rural police department for the security failures of July 13th is embarrassing excuse-making on the part of the Secret Service Director. The Secret Service should admit full responsibility for creating a security perimeter so narrow that it fell within the firing range of an AR-15. The Secret Service has a categorical duty to protect all major presidential candidates from all threats, regardless of where those threats lie in relation to the security perimeter. The Secret Service’s core mission of protecting a presidential candidate cannot be outsourced to a local rural police department simply by creating a narrow security perimeter.
A flawed security update of Crowdstrike software has led to widespread outages in various sectors of the global economy. Even though the wide-ranging disruption appears to have been an accident (as opposed to a cyber attack), it nonetheless illustrates how broadly and deeply destructive a cyber incident can be to a digitally connected global economy. Connectedness is both a blessing and a curse. With connectedness comes the need for cybersecurity. The world has been put on notice about the cyber challenges that lie ahead.

I joined Council Member Althea Stevens, Borough President Vanessa Gibson, and State Senator Luis Sepulveda in holding an emergency public safety townhall with the residents of Morrisania Houses following the fatal shooting of a young man, Raheem Blake, in broad daylight.
