stepping away from what I like to call the “Black Girl Magic Industrial Complex” has been an adjustment. we’re rewarded with social and literal currency to be our shiniest overachieving selves, meanwhile many of us are barely holding on. while i can’t speak for everyone – it wasn’t sustainable for me.
i didn’t expect such an overwhelming response and it is VERY clear this is an extended convo worth having – and when the right platform presents itself I look forward to sharing and diving into it more.
