Anthea Turner Instagram – This is a little nag from me to you if you are putting off having a Mammogram after receiving an invitation.
The NHS Breast Screening Programme invites all women in the UK from the age of 50 to 70 registered with a GP for screening every 3 years.
If you had to pay for this privately it would cost circa £275 and yet – I quote from the NHS website
35.4% of women did not attend their appointments following an invitation, increasing to 46.3% of women who were being invited for the first time.
The screening programme has led to cancers being detected in 18,942 women across England in 2022-23, which otherwise may not have been diagnosed and treated until a later stage.
NHS England is calling for women to put their health at the top of their to-do list and come forward for breast screening when invited. The call comes following a major £70 million Government investment in the Digital Transformation of Screening initiative to modernise screening services over the next three years.
IF YOU GET THE LETTER YOU HAVE TO GO.
Don’t forget to constantly check yourself in-between visits. Thanks to campaigns like CHANGE CHECK launched by @lorraine @thetittygritty and @futuredreamscharity we know how to do this and if you don’t pop over to their Insta of better still website.
