I get a lot of questions about Kilmer’s hair so this is what a mommy salon morning looks like…EXCEPT we do NOT always do hairstyles this elaborate! It’s typically whatever we have time for.
I will say that I’m sure she tolerates me doing her hair more because I started doing it so young. She’s very used to the process now and runs to her high chair when we shout “mommy salon time!” That being said, I don’t have a “sit still” kind of kid. Kilmer has always hated anything restricting including being held for long periods, strollers, bassinets, car seats etc etc. She even hated when I would wear a belly band while pregnant! Distraction, play and fun go a long way in making this an experience we both enjoy.
More than anything I really love the ancient tradition we nod to each morning – the idea of women combing / braiding each other’s hair while telling stories. Maybe as she gets older we’ll graduate from screen time and just chat about life, family and dreams 🩵 | Posted on 19/Aug/2024 19:06:53
