Every single one of these legends made what was one of the most technically challenging broadcasts look like it was easy and I’ve never learned so much so quickly. We made it look fun but make no mistake there were hundreds of people behind the scenes making us all shine. From Eddie feeding me stats and figures while I was getting hair and make up done to Ally Langdon rushing around briefing notes to my room because I had to head out to cover an event before sunrise the next morning. I’m in awe of their professionalism and work ethic and couldn’t have dreamt up a better way to finish up at Channel 9. My last day on air is this Friday. Please join me for lots of laughs and lots of tears 🥹❤️

I had friends come visit who I managed to squeeze in hugs and fun with in between doing crosses and spending time with the families of the athletes. @cstanaway shouted our team a family feast from French KFC on a 35 degree day in an hour between rugby matches at the Stade de France. I watched brothers and sisters cheer on their siblings even though they didn’t place because they were so frigging proud they got as far as they did. We took naps on the floor between broadcasts because we were glued to the coverage and couldn’t leave the compound because security was so tight 🇫🇷

I don’t really even know where to begin but it’s been the most magical few weeks and such a privilege. It’s so rare to see people who strive to be the best in the world at the things they’re good at. I got to see Lebron James dunk over the top of someone moving the crowd of his French opponents like he’s a hot knife and they’re butter. I got to see Grace Brown, who on the verge of retirement rides more furiously than she’s ever ridden before to bring us our first gold medal. I got to see Saya Sakakibara just fucking go for it all so she could make her brother proud and finish what he’d started. I’ve cried so much, I’ve never worked harder and I got to do it all with the loveliest most genuine people who went without lunches, dinners, sleep and phone calls to their families so we could bring the very best of those stories to you at home. There’s a reason we love the Olympics and it’s because it shows us the best of who we are, not just for money or glory but just for the pursuit of excellence and I’m forever grateful I got to be a small part of sharing that with all of you. Expect to get spammed over the next few hours 💚💛🇫🇷
