Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
12 tablespoons cold salted butter, cut small pieces
2 cups cold buttermilk
1 egg

Method:
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter until the pieces are the size of a pea. Then using your fingers smash about half of the butter pieces into flat chucks.

Make a well in the center of the flour and stir in the buttermilk. Mix until the dough comes together. Lightly flour your surface and turn out the dough. Need 4-5 times until the dough comes together. Press into a 1 inch thick rectangle. Cut into 12 even pieces.

Whisk the egg with 1 teaspoon of water. Brush the tops with the egg mixture and bake until golden brown and doubled in size, about 14-18 minutes. | Posted on 09/Aug/2024 02:21:13
