Just a little while ago, my husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! I remember when we got married, my husband was an office worker at that time. Every Mother’s Day, I like to pause and express my gratitude for the many mother figures who have loved me and supported me since childhood. Growing up, my mother, grandmother, and other wonderful women taught me how to live thoughtfully, joyfully, and fully. They made me who I am today. Becoming a mother has also taught me more than I could have imagined. I’ve learned to slow down, embrace the unexpected, and celebrate the fact that perfection (or anything close to it) is elusive. Watching my children reminds me that finding joy in the smallest things – the thrill of running fast, the awe of watching plants grow in our garden – makes life worth living. They exude joy! Dear everyone, Here are some thoughts I want to share with you all on sentimental items which I hope are helpful or even motivating for some of you in experiencing the magic of tidying up. It is not our physical memories but the person we have become because of those past experiences that we should treasure. This is the lesson these keepsakes teach us when we sort them. The space in which we live should be for the person we are becoming now, not for the person we were in the past. By handling each sentimental item and deciding what to keep, you process your past. If you just stow these things away in a drawer or cardboard box, before you realize it, your past will become a weight that holds you back and keeps you from living in the here and now. To put your things in order means to put your past in order, too. It’s like resetting your life and settling your accounts so that you can take the next step forward.
