Rhona Mitra Instagram – They call him -El Negrito- and this little man needs our HELP… 23 years pulling trash carts around the busy and congested streets of Montevideo. Nearly his entire life. As part of incentive to dissolve this antiquated and brutal business, there is an exchange where the owners of these horses are given motorbikes to give up the horses, so they can be rehomed to live some semblance of a peaceful life. Its a life of pure misery and slavery. Permanently tethered from birth, pulling oversized carts, through polluted and dangerous streets. Many live and die this way without ever so much as seeing a field or another horse except in passing in similar states. we are currently en route to see him in a fairly dangerous area 3 hours away in Montevideo, to assess his situation and work out if we can justify bringing him back to the Orphanage. He’s a fully intact stallion, who’s hooves are completely out of control as you can see in the images and we’re not sure what else we might find. As he’s a senior, he’ll need a lot of medical care and attention for his final years and obviously a castration. if we’re going to bring him home, we’ll need all the support we can get.
