This week there’s been a resurfacing of a chapter in my autobiography Spinning Plates where I talk about my time in Strictly. Richard put it so well in his post on the subject, I wanted to share it. He wrote the post 3 years ago, but the words still ring true. X #Repost @richardjonesface ・・・ This was a great night – I’ve shown clips of Sophie and Brendan’s Charleston to friends many times over the years. One of the all time great Strictly dances in my opinion and it was only week 2! And my goodness how incredible does she look! I’ve had a lot of messages regarding the press stories about how strictly affected our marriage when Sophie was a contestant back in 2013. It’s all good – it was 8 years ago and we’ve had 2 more kids since then! I encouraged Sophie to be open about it in her book because it’s in the past now and we feel that there’s a lot that could be made easier for couples if the show gave them more support. During the show I was often sat in the bar with the partners of other contestants and most were going through similar difficulties to me. It’s a very surreal experience and such a big show that I couldn’t get away from it all – I was out trying to promote The Feelings 4th album ‘boy cried wolf’ at the time and all anyone wanted to talk to me about was if I was worried my wife would leave me. It begins to wear you down. The therapy I had really did help a lot though and took the pressure off so Sophie could focus on the show and enjoy it – which she really did. I hope that comes across too. I really do encourage anyone who’s struggling with something, anything at all that becomes overwhelming to ask for help. Even speaking to a friend can make a big difference Strictly is a very happy memory for both of us now. We made great friends, Sophie was incredible on the show and I couldn’t have been prouder. It really is very attractive to see your wife looking so beautiful on the dance floor and remember – she went home with me at the end of the night! Ultimately it actually brought us a lot closer together. No regrets! 💃🏻❤️ @bbcstrictly

#ad Our kitchen is always the most energetic room in the house and as a family we can often be found there, all together, chatting and having fun with music on… that’s what inspired the kitchen discos we started during lockdown and we still keep that tradition going now. I’ve been working with @lg_uk to celebrate the launch of their amazing MoodUP refrigerator –with 1,800 colour combinations and in-built Bluetooth speakers. It was such a pleasure to meet with @pollyannabennett for this video, who choreographed Saltburn (among other things!), and talk all things dance and mood lifting! Use my code SOPHIE20 for 20% off the #LGMoodUP at lg.com/uk/moodup and host your own kitchen disco. #LG #LifesGood

Bat For Lashes aka Natasha Khan is a singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and a mum to a three year old daughter, Delphi.
She is bringing out her 6th album and this one is inspired by the birth of her child and is called The Dream of Delphi.
She was pregnant in LA during Covid and the album recalls how she reconnected with nature during that time, reflecting the landscape of the city, mountains and the desert. She’s now separated from Delphi’s Dad but explained they are still best friends and happily co-parent together.
We spoke about how she felt about becoming a mum later in life and we talked about that special liminal moment when you have just given birth and it dawns on you that you are moving from who you were into who you are going to be – a transformational moment.
I love Natasha’s work and this album is very beautiful. It was a joy to talk to her for Spinning Plates.
The Dream of Delphi is released 31st May.
