Caption : How I changed my voice using AI 🤖👇 First up, all you need to do is record want you want the AI voice to be saying, it doesn’t have to be high quality, voice notes on your phone will do just fine. The AI will try its best to match the pacing, intonation and flow of your speech so try to nail that the best you can. Transfer your voice note to your computer and then head over to @elevanlabsio website and upload your voice. From here you can select from hundreds of pre-made voices, generate an original voice from scratch, create voices using text to speech and more. I spent about an hour browsing through the voice library and then generating samples over and over again until I got a deep, gritty and epic voice that felt perfect for the ridiculousness of the video. These AI tools continue to amaze me every day, I’ve never felt so empowered to make just about anything. p.s. I colour graded that drone shot in Photoshop, but that’s for another story 😏 #filmmaker #filmmaking #AItools #behindthescenes🎬 #DowntownLA #creator #djimini3pro #aifilmmaking #elevenlabsLikes : 22431

Caption : Animated some more stop-motion LIVE! This time at Future Proof by @24mm.collective held at @motorista.studio on June 7th. Shout out to @jonsimo, @thechrishau, & @robanzit for having me out. Further refining the process of creating live-stop motion. I was able to animate 20 seconds through 3 hours – so pretty much capturing a frame every minute. Really positive vibe and had a ton of people interested in the process as I was animating. I’m used to controlling EVERYTHING while producing stop-motion, but that’s not the case when doing it at an event. Had no idea I’d be shooting into the key light of another production set up, but it made it so much cooler. I had to roll with their changing light and striking the set at the end of the evening. Created the Polaroid flashes with a combination of a flashlight on set with overexposing for a few frames. Event was sponsored by @henryscamera. Caption : Have you ever tried light painting? Here are 5 photo tips to get you started! ⬇️ On our last night in Japan @jonsimo and I visited the Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto. Jon had an idea to try some light painting and needles to say it turned out awesome! We tried most of our shots on the new @lumix S9 with an Xpan crop. Those photos are straight out of camera with no editing, and then on our final attempt I tried one vertically with my 15-35mm wide angle on the R5. What we learned is that sometimes moving a bit faster helps with creating smoother trails, but it also doesn’t hurt to experiment to see how the movements you make translate into fun shapes! Caption : One of my most epic rides ⚡️ I was riding home one night last week when the weather started to turn, distant thunder began to rumble… As the sky lit up, I had to pull over to witness the majesty of a summer lightning storm. I rigged up my 360 camera on my bike to try and capture some of these electric skies. But before you knew it I was in a torrential downpour and because I’m a safe, experienced rider, I pulled over underneath an overpass to wait out the most extremes parts of the storm. 🏍️ ❗️ Quick motorcycle safety fact: The first 15min of rain-fall is the most dangerous, this is because it mixes with oil, dust and debris on the road, creating slick conditions, after 15min most of this danger has been washed away and you should be good to continue riding. I had ear to ear smiles the entire way home, and was literally shouting WOW, JEEEEZ, OHHHHH! Inside of my helmet with each glorious strike. One of the most epic rides I’ve ever experienced, from start to finish, I’m so thankful to Mother Nature for providing one of the best (and free) shows known to mankind. 🎥 Shot on the @insta360 RS-1 inch camera #motorcyclelife #BMWg450x #insta360 #insta360oners #lightning #hamontLikes : 637

Caption : The realities of being a creator for me anyway. I posted this as a story recently but wanted to keep this on my feed because I think it’s important to share with other creators and non-creators alike. The video I’m referencing that took me 16 hours is the Voice AI reel that did quite well, 1mil views but sadly there’s no way for Canadian content creators to see $ returns from views. In fact 90 out of the 100 videos I put out year, I made for free, to experiment, provide value, to entertain and while I’ve had the highest output in ages, I’ve simultaneously had the most challenging financial year ever. If you’re out there making the things you love and somehow getting paid for more than just 10% of your output like me, would ya share the knowledge? I’m deeply grateful for the community I’ve fostered online and the support I receive from all you guys. Of course I’m also aware that this messaging comes from a place of privilege and that I’m so lucky to be able to do what I love. The last thing I want to do is come off as a creator who is trying to make you feel sorry for them, but I want to reinforce that I’m in this for the long haul and I won’t stop making things I love until I leave this planet. Love you guys, Simo 💙Likes : 624

Caption : Video on a tight deadline: How-To 👇 1. PREPERATION – Create a detailed shot-list and convert it to the notes app on your phone, check off each shot as you capture it. – Find the music to your project in advance, or at least 3 selections that you’ve narrowed down. Listen to it on repeat in the car, in the shower, on your walks. This will help you build the edit in your mind. – Create a text-based assembly edit with your music, so that you can slot in the footage easily. – Gather whatever assets you think you’ll need: sound fx, logos, plug-ins, LUTS etc. 2. THE SHOOT – Shoot with two cameras to get enough footage/angles per scene. – No second camera? Your smartphone can capture useable footage these days. – If you have limited time to shoot, you can capture in 60fps or higher to double the amount of footage you’re capturing, which can be slowed down later and further manipulated in editing. – Build your camera-rig in advance, balance your gimbal, set up your audio equipment, put your filters on, so you can hit the ground running as soon as you arrive on location. 3. THE EDIT – Even with tight timelines it’s important to properly organize your footage in folders. – Grab all your selects and put them in a new timeline, you can basically ignore the original footage now and focus on the good stuff. – Use AI tools to speed up workflow, the entire voiceover you hear is my own. – Stock footage is your friend! – Get a rough assembly out the door ASAP, if your client isn’t happy with the direction you’re taking it’s important to address that early on. – Have at least one friend you trust give your video a quality assurance pass, by looking for spelling mistakes, glitches, audio problems etc. 🧠 I’ve created hundreds of projects on these kind of tight timelines and the thing that has saved me time and time again is preparation and making smart decisions before you ever hit record. 🤔 Got anything to add to this list that’s saved you on your shoots? ![Jon Simonassi - 455 Likes - 5 things I wish I could tell my younger self👇 [Creator Edition]
👀 This is worth the read, trust me - by the end of this list you’ll already be better than when you started.
1. Let go of EGO when it comes to criticism and feedback
Chances are you’re probably afraid of someone verbally annihilating your latest creation but when you simply look for praise rather than criticism you’re stunting your ability to grow. Be open-minded, don’t take offence and ask humans you respect to ‘be brutal.’
2. Don’t get hung up on perfection
There’s no such thing as perfection in the creator world, the more time you take to tinker and toil the less time you’ll have to explore other projects and continue to learn from your mistakes. I’m not saying to simply pump content out the door but if you’re spending multiple days on that last 2% of the project you’re hindering growth.
3. Gear will not make you a better creator
It can be so seductive to tell yourself ‘as soon as I get X camera I’ll be better,’ but it’s just not true. All cameras are good these days, especially the one in your pocket. Upgrade your camera as your paid work budgets get upgraded and you’re ready for the next level but don’t wait for a silver bullet in lieu of creating things NOW.
4. Don’t create in a silo
Being a creator can be a very lonely and individualistic experience, many of us wear lots of hats and take on the responsibilities of what used to be teams of people. You have a finite amount of creative energy and time to make things but when you team up with other talented humans you not only learn from each other but make exponentially larger & more exciting things.
5. Try everything and then keep trying more
When you’re starting out you have no idea what you’re good at or how to find your niche. See a concept online you liked? Steal it, learn from it, make it your own. You should be creating as much as possible to slowly hone in on what it is that makes you unique. And don’t forget how incredibly unique YOU are, so if you want to differentiate yourself from other creators, inject more of your life experiences and stories into your content.

Let go of EGO when it comes to criticism and feedback Chances are you’re probably afraid of someone verbally annihilating your latest creation but when you simply look for praise rather than criticism you’re stunting your ability to grow. Be open-minded, don’t take offence and ask humans you respect to ‘be brutal.’ 2. Don’t get hung up on perfection There’s no such thing as perfection in the creator world, the more time you take to tinker and toil the less time you’ll have to explore other projects and continue to learn from your mistakes. I’m not saying to simply pump content out the door but if you’re spending multiple days on that last 2% of the project you’re hindering growth. 3. Gear will not make you a better creator It can be so seductive to tell yourself ‘as soon as I get X camera I’ll be better,’ but it’s just not true. All cameras are good these days, especially the one in your pocket. Upgrade your camera as your paid work budgets get upgraded and you’re ready for the next level but don’t wait for a silver bullet in lieu of creating things NOW. 4. Don’t create in a silo Being a creator can be a very lonely and individualistic experience, many of us wear lots of hats and take on the responsibilities of what used to be teams of people. You have a finite amount of creative energy and time to make things but when you team up with other talented humans you not only learn from each other but make exponentially larger & more exciting things. 5. Try everything and then keep trying more When you’re starting out you have no idea what you’re good at or how to find your niche. 💙 #creator #timelapse #contentcreator #lumixLikes : 455

Also if this reel does well I’ll be a lil annoyed because it only took me 5 minutes to create 🥲 #contentcreator #editor #davinciresolve #premierepro #videoeditorLikes : 446

Caption : Jon Simo for hire 🙋♂️ While it may seem like the last couple of years have been filled to the brim with client work and paid jobs, for me they’ve actually been few and far in-between. I’d like to think I’m a pretty skilled creator and am actively looking for work! ⚡️I excel in automotive/motorcycle content, hypelapse/timelapse, anything photography, drone, 360, short-form reels, adventure, travel, camera-tech, tutorials and a whole bunch more! The constant stress of worrying about if I’ll have a paying job next month is eating away at my soul and I would love to land work with an on-going client to create some financial consistency in my life. I know budgets have gone down over the past few years and competition is fierce but I believe I bring a unique perspective to content creation that is not matched amongst my peers. So if you wanna work together, DM me! I’d be happy to have that conversation 🙌 #creatorsupport #contentcreator #demoreel #jonsimo #filmmakerLikes : 366

Caption : The Lumix G9II dropped last week and it’s sort of a sleeper 🔥 share this post with a friend that needs to check this out! I didn’t expect to love this camera so much, I’ve definitely been more of a full-frame shooter for most of my career but the GH6 has swooned me back over to the m4/3 side. When @Lumix was briefing me about this camera they said it would be a photo-centric camera but leave it to Lumix to make this a sleeper video beast too lol 📷 For stills, it boasts some impressive features, including: – 25mp – 75 frames per second burst (wtf!!) – 100mp high resolution mode – Phase Auto Focus! – New Picture Profiles from Leica 🎥 in video it’s got some crazy specs: – 5.8k Open Gate 4:2:0 – C4K 4:2:2 10bit – Dual Native ISO – AF up to 120fps – Prores Recording to an SSD – 8 stops of Image Stabilization – VLOG real time LUT function After my tests I actually think the G9II has an edge on the powerhouse that is the GH6, it’s got better lowlight performance and now has the seriously good Phase Autofocus. If you guys have been thinking about upgrading camera systems and don’t wanna break the bank you should definitely consider this $1899 USD camera. It’s going to be the perfect camera for sports/wild photographers who need high burst rates, for travel photo/video folks who want a lightweight camera lenses and really anyone who wants to get into video without having to buy a $4000 full-frame camera. Thanks to @ms.chels and @zachbaranowski for their help on this shoot 🙌 ❓Got any more questions about this amazing sleeper cam? Caption : I haven’t had any zero days in a while now ⛅️ So what’s a zero day? 👇 ZERO DAY: when your depression, anxiety, self-doubt, fear, whatever you want to call that little voice in your head that can sabotage you, it’s when it wins you over and your day is burned. That means ignoring your self-care practices, not getting out of bed, having no ability to focus or get anything done. If you’ve ever had a zero day (and I’m sure you have) you know that they’re awful. In the thralls of my worst depression, I would have multiple zero days a week, I thought I had lost my creativity and that I would never escape my own suffering. So when I tell you that I haven’t had any zero days in a WHILE, that is a massive win for me. You may be asking how I stopped having these bad days and the answers are all quite obvious: I continued therapy I surrounded myself with good humans I upheld self-care practices I kept my diet right, avoiding alcohol, sugar and processed foods BUT If there’s one single practice that has helped me more than anything else, it’s the simple act of going for a walk. I walk every single morning, after every meal and at night, it’s the quickest way to combat depression and feel better almost instantly. This is the most I’ve ever walked and coincidentally it’s the best my mental health has been in years. So if you’re stuck in a cycle of having zero days, I know how painful that is my friend… Just remember, you are never destined to stay as any one person, you are constantly shifting, evolving and growing, don’t convince yourself you’re broken and unfixable, you’re not. Start by going for a walk 💙 #creatorsupport #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealth #mentalhealthhelp #sigmacreativespacesLikes : 345

Caption : I’ve been hiding behind the lens for most of my life, it allows me to feel as if I’m operating through reality without really being noticed. It also makes it seem as if everything is okay, but in actuality, it’s not, and I want to try and help normalize that not being okay is okay. I have depression, and ADHD and am neurodivergent, and am a loner on the verge of burnout and…the list could go on and on. There’s a very real part of me that says if I stay strong and appear like everything is okay, then maybe I can even trick myself into believing that reality. But eventually all masks fall off and you’re left staring at yourself in the mirror, you will have to face the music of who you really are, so you can gain clarity on who you’re meant to be. To anyone that is suffering right now, where you think everything is f*cked, things do get better, everything undulates up and down over time. Allow yourself to cry, to scream, to do nothing at all for an entire day. When I try to be my strongest, I’m really just feeding into my weakest self. I’ll be okay and so will you, life is weird huh? #creatorsupport #mentalhealthcheckin #mentalhealthawareness #contentcreator #mentalhealthLikes : 332

Caption : If ya feel something, ya FEEL something, it’s not about personality matrixles and charts, it’s all about the b-b-bumps in your heart! – Jake the Dog, Adventure time 🐶⚔️ Feeling those bumps as I captured @ms.chels on one of our nature walks to ground and re-centre ourselves. 🫤 We were both feeling a little off this weekend and had to remind ourselves how easy it is to change your state and re-frame your thoughts, just by getting out into nature. I could list the stats and figures from a copious amount of studies on just how powerful nature is at calming you nervous system but if you’ve spent anytime at all in the woods, you know this to be absolutely true. So the next time you’re feeling unlike yourself, get out into nature and let the trees remind you of who you are. 📸 @Lumix S5IIx with the @venuslaowa 100mm Cine Macro Lens ⚡️ Graded in Photoshop using my Omega Preset which you can grab in my broadcast channel! #ExploreON #forestbathing #lumixs5II #venuslaowa #moodyportraitLikes : 290

Caption : Testing my camcorder from ’95 📹 I picked up this vintage Panasonic for 70 bucks and immediately fell in love with it. It was one of the very first video cameras to shoot on the MiniDV format and has that glorious 3CCD look. It even has a ‘cinema-mode’ which stretches the image from the sensor to fit in a 16×9 frame, which is how I was able to shoot this vertically without having to crop the image in anyway. Let me know below if you want me to drop a video on the camcorder itself and how my analog workflow works 👇 #camcorder #minidv #filmmaking #motorcycle #vintagecamcorder #vhs #motorcyclereels #retroaestheticLikes : 269

Caption : Fishing line was the real MVP here. #vfx But seriously whilst making the can appear and disappear was relatively easy, making this spot make sense was anything but. Creating this infinite loop of passing new cans of Red Bull basically made my brain bleed. The female gamer has to pass a new can to her friend and then he has to have a fresh can to pass back to her to start the infinite loop and it’s this paradoxical snake eating its own tail effect of looping infinitely. Woah right? Thanks to @redbullcanada for hiring me for this job. @jhuze1988 for being my ever resourceful gaffer/cam-assist, @vfxjenn for the additional effects, And to @jasonkattides and @tanishathamma for making it look all to easy on-camera. Which is your fav? 🎥⚡️ Head on over to my broadcast channel to see more breakdowns and insider info on how I created this energetic commercial for @BMWcanada. I had 2 days to prep for this shoot (while on a camping trip) and only a single day to capture the car, it was a mad dash to get everything I needed for the vision I had in mind but I’m so so happy with how it turned out! Caption : Do you ever find it hard to stop working? I’ve been road-tripping through Quebec with @ms.chels for the past 2 weeks and have barely worked more than a few hours this entire time. I feel this background anxiety that I SHOULD be hustling and grinding everyday but fail to remember that this is the exact reason why I keep feeling like I’m on the verge of burnout. Creating this container where I knew work would be limited has been so nourishing for my soul, everyday has been filled with adventure, laughter and so much love. I’m actually building up this energy to be excited to get back to work, which is a feeling I haven’t experienced in quite some time – but in the meantime I’m going to enjoy the heck out of the rest of my road-trip through this very special place in Canada. ✍️ I’m partially writing this as a reminder to myself: ▹ Leave notifications off ▹ Keep my phone in airplane mode ▹ Create an auto-email responder ▹ And leave the work mentality at home A little time off isn’t going to end your career, I think it’s going to empower it. Hope you’re all having an amazing adventurous Fall my friends! 🍂🍁🧡 📸 Photo by @ms.chels 💻 Edit by me using the new @photoshop Beta which has some amazing features, including Lens Blur which allows me to make the depth of field of my micro four-thirds @Lumix GH6 look like the full frame blur of my S5II 🤯 #explorequebec #creatorsupport #lumixgh6 #creator #fallphotoshootLikes : 259

You better believe I got the 6 speed manual version too 😏 I plan to do as much wrenching as possible on this car and learn everything I can along the way. This camera paired with the glorious Lumix Leica lenses is a pretty magical combo. These were all shot with the 10-25mm f1.7 and 25-50mm f1.7 I’ve been getting more into capturing these stunning fungi, just like insects it’s one of those new worlds where the more you know, the less you know. #lumixcreator #lumix #mushroomphotography #mushroomphoto #fungiphotography #fungilove #lumixg9iiLikes : 256

Caption : Being a creator can be incredibly lonely, can you relate? If you’re like me you CONCEPTUALIZE SHOOT EDIT DELIVER/UPLOAD in solitude I think that’s why we so intrinsically feel the need for validation of our work. It’s not the best habit and I’m aware of it but as soon as I finish an edit I immediately want to show everyone I know, part of that is healthy in terms of showcasing something I’m proud of. But the other half is needing validation that I am skilled and valuable, and that I didn’t make a disastrous mistake when choosing this as my career path. So how does this relate to the above photo set? I attended @RobAnzit’s #SigmaCreativeSpaces event recently and was reminded how important community and collaboration is to every creator’s reality. While many aspects of creativity are inherently lonesome by nature, the experience itself doesn’t have to be one in your own echo chamber. I’m trying to surround myself with more local creators, to work in co-op spaces, to hire more talented people to assist my efforts. The dangers of being both introverted and a perfectionist means that collaboration without micro-managing is not easy for me, but I’m aware of this and always strive to be better every day. So what am I trying to say here? 🎤 GO TO EVENTS 👯♀️ COLLABORATE WITH YOUR FRIENDS 🤝 COLLABORATE WITH HUMANS YOU’VE NEVER MET 👋 GO WORK AROUND OTHER CREATORS 🤔 ASK FOR FEEDBACK, SHARE WORK WITH YOUR CIRCLE I’m basically shouting this to myself as a reminder, and maybe it’ll be a good reminder for you too. Thanks for reading, as always 🎬💙 📸 Photos by my new friend whom I met at this very event, @captured_by_thea_photography (see her in the last frame), thanks for approaching me and being part of the important reminder of getting out there. #creatorsupport #sigmacanada #contentcreator #instagramcreatorLikes : 236

If the tire pressure is off by 3psi… If the air to fuel ratios are skewed… If the oil needs to be changed… You feel all of that, it’s strange really. But when everything is working harmoniously, you definitely feel that and it’s pure bliss. The machinery becomes an extension of your body, a visceral connection between you and the road below. I’ve been riding for 12 years now and still firmly believe it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. This BMW G450X is my third bike, arguably the most capable of the three, as I’ve fitted it with knobby tires and am about to enter the glorious world of trail riding. I’m so incredibly grateful for the freedom these machines provide, the thrill of the speed and the calm of the flow state. Phone gimbals have been around for a while but they’ve never really been that ‘smart’ this gimbal aims to change that. I’ve been using my iPhone 15 pro max to capture more and more pro level content, and I want to start leaving my bigger bulkier gear at home. The Flow Pro can intelligently track subjects in your frame, even if it loses sight of the subject it’ll organically find them again and continue tracking seamlessly. It can also track a full 360 degrees around making it super useful for solo creators. But my favourite feature is the fact that in iOS 18 the gimbal pairs natively to the phone so you can use the tracking using Apple’s camera app, that means I can shoot 4K ProRes LOG footage with my phone and this gimbal while still having tracking capabilities 🤯 Not to mention I can shoot timelapses, hyperlapses and a whole slew of other slick types of shots that only a gimbal can enable. Do you guys use phone gimbals in your kit? #insta360flowpro #insta360Likes : 233
