Caption : FEATURED PHOTO OF THE WEEK: This has to be the most amazing photo I have ever seen of volcanic lightning discharged from an erupting volcano, also known as a “Dirty Thunderstorm”. The Calbuco volcano erupted on April 22, 2015 (Earth Day) in southern Chile. Volcanic lightning occurs when fragmented particles collide in the volcanic plume and generate static electricity. PHOTO CREDIT: @francisconegroni_fotografia —————————————————————— NEW: Extreme Nature will now be featuring some of the most intense and extreme videos recorded by shooters around the world. There is so much incredible content out there I want to share. The plan is to post one “featured” post a week as well as any photos and video I shoot on future chases.Likes : 35582

Caption : Totality !! The Great Solar Eclipse of 2017 was one of the most incredible events I have ever witnessed !! We observed 100% totality in central Wyoming for over 2 minutes with clear skies and all smiles 🙂 We could feel a significant temperature drop during totality. Nature is so cool !! . Sorry the live stream didn’t succeed. Unfortunately, all data and cellphone reception failed a few minutes before totality began. I was really looking forwarded to streaming this live to everyone. . Special thanks @CanonUSA for providing the needed camera equipment to make this photo shoot possible. This photo was captured using a Canon 1Dx camera with a Canon L-series 400mm zoom lens. Caption : (Dashcam capture) While storm chasing in tornado alley my Garmin dashcam captured a rare phenomenon called “upward-moving” lightning, also known as “ground-to-cloud” lightning. I witnessed this TV tower get struck 3 times in a 10 minute span. The third strike occurred when I was close to the tower and it was truly incredible. The lightning shot straight up from the tip of the tower and branched out like a tree up into the clouds and flashed several times before it finally discharged all its energy. Caption : Exclusive #EarthDay video: Photographers David Wilson and Mike Theiss from Sundiver Snorkel Tours went on a mission to document marine life at the reefs after weeks of quarantined conditions due to the Covid-19 virus. Some of the coral reefs offshore of #KeyLargo haven’t experienced boat traffic nor human visitors for many weeks. Will this help our chances of documenting the elusive spotted eagle ray ? We used drones to monitor the area and within minutes discovered a large group of several dozen spotted eagle rays, also known as a “fever”. We were able to track the eagle rays with drones and quickly deployed into the water and snorkeled right up next to the them. They were beautiful and looked like birds flying under the water. Mission accomplished! Video by: @ExtremeNature and @DavidHasTattoos Special Thanks to @Sundiver for making all this possible. When the quarantine conditions are lifted and it’s safe to travel again, head down to Key Largo, Florida to see this amazing marine life in person while snorkeling with Sundiver Snorkel Tours www.SnorkelTickets.comLikes : 17726

Caption : Welcome to the Florida Keys, Home to the most scenic and beautiful highway in the world !! The Overseas Highway is a 113-mile roadway carrying U.S. Route 1 (US-1) through the islands of the Florida Keys. Large parts of the highway were built on the former land used for the Overseas Railroad, Completed in 1912 by Henry Flagler, the Overseas Railroad was heavily damaged and destroyed during the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. The Florida East Coast Railway was financially unable to rebuild the destroyed sections, so the roadbed and remaining bridges were sold to the state of Florida for $640,000. Caption : (On assignment with @LindbladExp) One adult king penguin surrounded by hundreds of baby chick penguins aka “oakum boys” at Salisbury Plain on South Georgia island. The chicks of the king penguin are covered in a brown down and sometimes referred to as “oakum boys” because of the resemblance to the youths who packed the seams of wooden boats with oakum, a tarred fibre, to make them watertight, wisps of the oakum stuck to them, so they were brown and fluffy and early seamen thought the king penguin chicks looked the same. Everyone and everything is trying to catch a ride out to the reef, even the remoras, sometimes called suckerfish, create suction and take a firm hold against the skin of larger marine animals. Caption : (On assignment @SandalsResorts) Snorkeling inside the Thunderball Grotto cave with @IslandRoutes in Exuma, Bahamas. This underwater cave system is great for snorkeling and diving. It has an abundance of exotic marine life and a wide variety of brilliantly colored corals and fish. The grotto’s mystique is heightened by the small, almost hidden entrance. It is advised to enter at low or slack tide. At high tide, diving equipment is necessary. The grotto got its name from the 1965 James Bond spy film “Thunderball,” which was shot there. It was also the site of James Bond film, “Never Say Never Again” in 1983, also based on the Thunderball novel. #LiveFunner Photo by Mike Theiss @ExtremeNatureLikes : 6012

Fur seals are closely related to sea lions and share with them external ears, relatively long and muscular foreflippers, and the ability to walk on all fours. They are marked by their dense underfur, which made them a long time object of commercial hunting. Photo by Mike Theiss @ExtremeNatureLikes : 5984

Caption : Amazing encounter with nature !! We were lucky enough to observe infant green monkeys feeding and being carried around the Barbados Wildlife Reserve by their mothers. As the infant matures and becomes more independent, it will stray from its mother, being carried only when the troop moves or when danger threatens. Infants often appear blue in color, as they have little fur when they are born. However, as they mature, they develop a thick fur that is brownish-grey in colour with specks of yellow and olive green. In some lighting, the fur has an overall green appearance and is why they were named “green monkey”. Photo by Mike Theiss @sandalsresorts @islandroutes #LiveFunnerLikes : 5610
