(Video) Incredible rare encounter with dozens of spotted eagle rays while snorkeling at white banks coral reef with @Sundiver Snorkel Tours in #KeyLargo, Florida. Typically if you have an encounter with a spotted eagle ray it’s swimming alone but during mating season you could see dozens of them swimming together and chasing each other around the reef and sometimes they even jump out of the water. You never know what you might see while snorkeling. Book your next snorkel adventure today with @Sundiver Snorkel Tours in Key Largo. Exclusive #EarthDay video: Photographers David Wilson and Mike Theiss from Sundiver Snorkel Tours went on a mission to document marine life at the reefs after weeks of quarantined conditions due to the Covid-19 virus. Some of the coral reefs offshore of #KeyLargo haven’t experienced boat traffic nor human visitors for many weeks. Will this help our chances of documenting the elusive spotted eagle ray ? We used drones to monitor the area and within minutes discovered a large group of several dozen spotted eagle rays, also known as a “fever”. We were able to track the eagle rays with drones and quickly deployed into the water and snorkeled right up next to the them. They were beautiful and looked like birds flying under the water. Mission accomplished! Video by: @ExtremeNature and @DavidHasTattoos Special Thanks to @Sundiver for making all this possible. When the quarantine conditions are lifted and it’s safe to travel again, head down to Key Largo, Florida to see this amazing marine life in person while snorkeling with Sundiver Snorkel Tours www.SnorkelTickets.com

(On assignment with @LindbladExp) We have arrived to the western Falkland islands and immediately had a close encounter with a leopard seal relaxing on the beach. The leopard seal, also referred to as the sea leopard, is the second largest species of seal in the Antarctic as well as the second largest predator next to the Killer Whale. We will spend a few more days in the Falkland islands before we set sail for a three day open water journey to the South Georgia and South Sandwich islands. Photo by Mike Theiss @ExtremeNature
Love is in the air !! We have arrived to Carcass island in the Falklands with @LindbladExp and discovered a colony of gentoo penguins on the beach. The long-tailed gentoo penguin is a species in the genus Pygoscelis, most closely related to the Adélie penguin and the chinstrap penguin. The first scientific description was made in 1781 by Johann Reinhold Forster in the Falkland islands. Photo by Mike Theiss @ExtremeNature

(Slideshow) This week with @lindbladexp we encountered lots of wildlife while traveling across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the National Geographic Explorer in route to the South Georgia and Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). So far we have been really lucky with good weather and super calm seas. The first image shows a black-browed albatross bird casting a shadow over the glass like flat calm seas hundreds of miles from any land. The second image was captured during our encounter with a pod of fin whales. These giant whales surrounded the ship and put on an amazing show which provided us with many photo opportunities. The third image shows a variety of sea birds floating on the ocean following us on our journey. Next we will visit the wildlife on the Falkland Islands before heading back out to the open sea for 3 days traveling to the incredible South Georgia islands, home to thousands of penguins including the photogenic “king penguin”. Fingers crossed the good weather and calm seas continue for the remainder of our journey. Stay tuned !! Photo by Mike Theiss @ExtremeNature
