Camryn Manheim Instagram – Last night the American Theatre Wing had a Gala honoring the “Unsung Heroes” of the theater.
From dressers who execute seamless quick changes between scenes, to understudies and swings who go into a show with little to no notice, to make-up artists responsible for the flawless faces seen on stage, to vocal coaches that make New York’s finest actors ready for 8 shows a week, to the security team that keeps us safe, and to our stage managers who make it possible for the show to go on each and every night.
The incomparable actress, Jenn Colella (Come From Away & Suffs) nominated my dear friend Lisa Iacucci to be honored as an unsung hero. I met Lisa the year I graduated college. I knew the minute we worked together that I was going to know her the rest of my life. She is one of those gems that you have to pick up and put in your pocket. She has been there for every major event in my life, including when my son was born. Not only is she an outstanding stage manager, she’s an incredible friend and an exceptional human. Standing at only 5 foot tall, we call her li’l Lisa but don’t let that the fool you, she is a gentle giant with the biggest heart. Congratulations Lisa. You’ve been my unsung hero for over three decades. ❤️
