Patrick’s Quiche
Ingredients:
1 – 1 1/2 cup julienned leeks
12 ounces cooked bacon, chopped
1 ½ cups grated Gruyère cheese
5 whole eggs
1 cup heavy cream
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 store-bought deep dish pie crust
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a pie dish and pre-bake it for 10 minutes until it’s just beginning to set but not browned. Lower the oven temperature to 325.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Start assembling the quiche by layering half of the julienned leeks, cooked bacon, and Gruyère cheese in the pre-baked pie crust. Pour half of the egg custard mixture over the layered ingredients. Repeat the layers with the remaining leeks, bacon, and cheese. Pour the remaining custard over the top.
Sprinkle a little extra Gruyère cheese over the top for a golden finish.
Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the top is a dark golden brown and the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
Let the quiche cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm or at room temperature. | Posted on 26/Aug/2024 22:49:05
