Grace Byers Instagram – This was a truly incredible moment for the #Deaf #CODA communities. ❤️ Growing up as a CODA, I was always hyper-aware of my parents’ deafness. In our environment, it was a culture that few understood and even less were apart of, so, as a child, I constantly shied away from it. It wasn’t until I became a young adult that I truly began to understand how wonderful it was to be apart of this culture, and unique in this way. Many years later, to see a film like @codamovie and to witness space being carved out for it – for the awareness of Deaf culture – brings tears to my eyes. A huge congratulations to the entire @codamovie for this historic win.💫 A gentle reminder: the thing that makes you different, is the very thing that makes you (deeply) special. 🤍 love ya’ll 🤟🏽.
