i get asked often about how my hair has grown so fast. what’s important to know is, every single person is different; hair type, genes, etc. it’s def not one size fits all. with that said, here’s what works for me:

✔️ re-learning my hair type/porosity
✔️ lotssss of moisture
✔️ little dyeing – i dye my roots occasionally and full hair only 1x a year with a profeshhh
✔️ i don’t skimp on scalp massages
✔️ trimming a few times a year
✔️ NO heat (the recent Essence carpet was pretty much my first time in two years). i also diffuse lightly and slowly.
✔️ co-washing
✔️ letting her breathe (i try to stay away from constant tight pullback styles)
✔️ when i deliberately nourish myself (food, hydration, supplements) my skin, hair and nails are happier

still working my hair-care regime and learning her personality as she gets longer.

Grace Byers Instagram – This was a truly incredible moment for the #Deaf #CODA communities. ❤️

Growing up as a CODA, I was always hyper-aware of my parents’ deafness. In our environment, it was a culture that few understood and even less were apart of, so, as a child, I constantly shied away from it. It wasn’t until I became a young adult that I truly began to understand how wonderful it was to be apart of this culture, and unique in this way.

Many years later, to see a film like @codamovie and to witness space being carved out for it – for the awareness of Deaf culture – brings tears to my eyes. A huge congratulations to the entire @codamovie for this historic win.💫

A gentle reminder: the thing that makes you different, is the very thing that makes you (deeply) special. 🤍
