I’ve just got back from a beautiful wellness retreat which I can’t wait share more of with you but being back home and thinking about how we’re going into autumn, getting our kids back to school/back into our routines again. I’ve been thinking about all the things I’ve been practicing and learning and how I want to keep these healthy habits going – one of the main ones is movement, going for a walk , bike ride or have some kind of light, gentle exercise as part of my daily routine

I’ve finally bought myself a bike which I’m really enjoying and evening bike rides or a walk are now my new non negotiable habit that I’m really trying to stick to. It’s so fun and also such a lovely thing to do together as a family or with a friends🙏🏻

Gemma @fitbuddie.co.uk has been teaching me about GLUCOSE CLEARING – it’s our ability to remove glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream and use it for energy. Walking or cycling after a meal helps reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes and improves insulin sensitivity. By accelerating glucose clearance, walking reduces the likelihood of excess glucose being stored as fat, aiding in weight management and lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes.

There are also so many other benefits🙌🏻

Improved Digestion-I find it really helps prevent bloating and discomfort, allowing me to process food more efficiently.

Enhanced Metabolism- Regular physical activity, including walking, boosts my metabolism, helping me burn more calories throughout the day.

Appetite Control-Walking reduces my desire to snack or overeat after meals.

It’s SO good for our minds. Being out in nature and that little bit of self care is so good for our mood and our mental health

Incorporating a moderate walk or bike ride of about 15-30 minutes after each meal can, over time, contribute to a healthier weight by leveraging these benefits.
