Sheryl Sandberg Instagram – Today my heart goes out to the Yazidi community. 10 years ago, ISIS invaded the Sinjar region in northern Iraq and began their genocidal campaign against Yazidis. Hundreds of thousands were displaced. And nearly 10,000 people were murdered or kidnapped.
In their brutal attacks, ISIS used rape as a weapon of war. They sold thousands of women and girls into sexual slavery — including @nadia_murad. Since escaping captivity, Nadia has devoted her life to speaking out on behalf of Yazidis and survivors of sexual violence worldwide through her foundation @nadiasinitiative.
