Two years ago today. And I thought I loved you then….
Vice President @kamalaharris has already made history once — becoming the first Black and South Asian woman to hold her office, and she will do it again in November. She is an accomplished leader, a fierce advocate of abortion rights, and the strongest candidate to lead our country forward. I was just with Vice President Harris at the @whitehouse for a screening of @screamsbeforesilence, where she stood firmly against conflict-related sexual violence in all its forms. She will defend women’s rights — and all Americans’ rights — from the Oval Office with a determined, compassionate focus. I’m thrilled to support her.
Bam. That is how it is done. I can’t wait for your inaugural speech, soon-to-be Madam President.
With deep sadness, I am honoring the life of my friend @susanwojcicki. When I joined Google, Susan was one of the very first people I met. She taught me the business and helped me navigate a growing, fairly chaotic organization at the beginning of my career in tech. She was the person I turned to for advice over and over again. And she was this person for so many others too. As one of the most important women leaders in tech — the first to lead a major company — she was committed to expanding opportunities for women throughout Silicon Valley. I don’t believe my career would be what is today without her unwavering support. I will remember Susan’s brilliance, kindness, and visionary leadership. And I will be forever grateful for her guidance, and most importantly, her friendship. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
I’m devastated by Hamas’ murder of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages. Hersh’s parents, Rachel and Jon, are some of the most extraordinary people I have ever met. Their love for Hersh inspired the world, and they never gave up hope. My heart breaks for them today, and for every family impacted by Hamas’ terror. I continue to pray for the safe release of the remaining hostages so they can be reunited with their families. May Hersh, Ori, Eden, Almog, Alexander, and Carmel’s memories be a blessing. May their loved ones know they are not alone.
Celebrating the man who holds me in his arms and always makes me laugh. Happy birthday @tom_bernthal!
Today at Hostage Square in Israel, hundreds gathered to demand the immediate release of all 120 hostages still being held by Hamas. They heard from survivors of the October 7 attacks and families of victims. And they watched @screamsbeforesilence. For nine agonizing months, the hostages have suffered unimaginable hardships. Agam Goldstein Almog, who was held captive by Hamas for 51 days, bravely shared her story and spoke about the threats of sexual violence and the constant fear of death she endured. She also explained why documenting Hamas’ crimes is so important: “This film is about reality — a reality where women were raped, tortured, and slaughtered. This film is about a reality where women in captivity are sexually assaulted. The film is about assaults on women, after which only silence remains.” To everyone working tirelessly to #BringThemHome, thank you. Your voice is so important in making sure that they are not left behind and that everything is done to ensure their release. To the families and friends of the innocent people still being held, my heart is with you. I pray every day for the safe return of each and every hostage.

Congratulations to my amazingly talented and equally loving and generous brother-in-law @jonnybernthal on winning his first Emmy for The Bear! I could not be prouder.
It’s so powerful to see Jewish and Muslim community leaders and activists come together in LA last night for a special screening of @screamsbeforesilence. As @scooterbraun said, “Empathy should not have a limit. I should mourn for your family in Gaza the same way you mourn for these people. I should want aid going into Gaza the same way I want hostages to come home.” Thank you, Scooter and @daphnaziman for hosting this important event — alongside Muslim Women Speakers, @ammwec_global, @justiceforwomenintl, @standwithus, @womens_voices_now, @missrepresentation, and Temple of the Arts. And thank you to everyone who attended to stand united around this fundamental truth: rape should never occur in peace or war.

Congratulations to @alicepaultapper on her new children’s book! After experiencing a near-fatal medical misdiagnosis in 2021, Alice learned why it matters to advocate for yourself in the hospital. Now, she’s teaching other children to do the same. In “Use Your Voice,” Alice shares her story — with the help of some imaginary friends. This important book will encourage children to listen to their bodies and speak up. It’s a good reminder for adults too. I hope you read it!
Today my heart goes out to the Yazidi community. 10 years ago, ISIS invaded the Sinjar region in northern Iraq and began their genocidal campaign against Yazidis. Hundreds of thousands were displaced. And nearly 10,000 people were murdered or kidnapped. In their brutal attacks, ISIS used rape as a weapon of war. They sold thousands of women and girls into sexual slavery — including @nadia_murad. Since escaping captivity, Nadia has devoted her life to speaking out on behalf of Yazidis and survivors of sexual violence worldwide through her foundation @nadiasinitiative. I had the chance to meet Nadia at the @whitehouse when we screened @screamsbeforesilence. Her strength, resilience, and willingness to share her story is remarkable. To learn more about Nadia and how we can all support all Yazidi survivors, visit: nadia.la/ourworkisnotdone #OurWorkIsNotDone #SupportSurvivors

Today is #WomensEqualityDay — the 104th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted some women in the US the right to vote. More than a century later, the fight for gender equality is far from over. Now more than ever, we must take on the obstacles that hold women and girls back: unequal access to education, dwindling reproductive rights, a sizeable pay gap, and widespread gender-based violence. It’s on all of us to build a more equal world. That means using the power of our voices — and our votes.
Congratulations to my dear friend and @leaninorg Circle member @rachelplatten on the release of her powerful and deeply personal new album! Rachel wrote this album during some of her most difficult and loneliest moments. The songs were her medicine. They’re about hope, love, resilience, and finding light in the darkness. She’s said they are the best songs of her life. I couldn’t agree more and hope everyone listens. Rachel, thank you for inspiring me, always. Your music is such a gift to all of us.

100,000!! 11 years ago when we launched Lean In Circles, we set what we thought was an impossible goal: 1,000 Circles. I truly never thought we’d get there. Today, more than 100,000 women have started Circles in 183 countries. Women in Lean In Circles empower each other, in ways big and small. The stories from our community are a huge source of inspiration for me and so many others. I feel hopeful when I see Circle members work together to start new businesses, come together to change outdated policies, and join forces to lift up the next generations of leaders. By going after their own goals, they’re moving all of us closer to gender equality. Too often, the world tells women why they can’t do something. But time and time again, our members say their Circles are the ones who tell them they can. 85 percent of members attribute a positive life change to their Lean In Circle, and almost two-thirds have taken on a new challenge since joining. A huge thank you to every person who’s helped Lean In hit this incredible milestone. You’re showing how much we can achieve when we lean in together. To lead or join a Circle, visit leanin.org/circles
