Hello, hello! I just wanted to pop on here and offer all of you one of my favorite poems by @salena.godden titled “Pessimism is for Lightweights.” Also, I can confirm. There is in fact a dead opossum in the woods.
Summer is making good use of my hands! Lots of pitting cherries, harvesting nasturtiums, cutting through waves, reading, devouring fruits, and playing music with friends. I hope everyone is well. x (I got sunscreen all over my camera).

I just finished reading the Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Here are some of my favorite lines, and some of the picturesque places in which I read them. I feel like I can’t say too much or I will start crying again. What I can say is this; we all know the ending of this story, just as Patroclus and Achilles do. The beauty held within Madeline Miller’s words compel us, the readers, to continue on with it anyway— knowing and accepting our fate and ultimate heartbreak, just as Patroclus and Achilles too. We feel what they feel. That is poetic and astoundingly poignant. Knowing it is over has left my body hollow— I’m not ready to say goodbye! Then I remember I will carry this story and these characters with me forever, and that thought is enough to fill me back up with life again. The general consensus is that this book changes lives. From what I’ve experienced, that is true. I feel as though I need to spend the next little bit in mourning, all for fictional characters— and that, I think, is a beautiful thing.

These pictures were taken back in 2019 whilst recording my debut EP with @tedhutt. Three years ago TODAY, “21st Century Hippie” was set loose into the world— and I’m really just confused and sentimental about how quickly time moves! Thank you all for the support and love over the years, and thank you to the folks in the studio who helped make it happen. It warms my heart that these tunes still have a place out there— and if you have yet to listen, I’d suggest getting caught up before something new is delivered! Lastly, and most importantly, friends! Today is the final day for voter registration in several states. Check the deadlines on the last slide, and make sure you’re ready for November 5th! x

It’s been storming all day, so what better to do than hang out with my guitar and sing Jeff Buckley. Here’s ’Dream Brother.’ Sending love, friends. 🖤
This book is HOPE. This book is light. This book is dark. This book is catharsis. Everyone should read this book. To Salena— you’re brilliant. Your words have made me feel seen. They have cradled me. They have taken me by the shoulders and given me a good shake. You have written something devastating and beautiful. I will thank you for as long as my forever may be.
