I had such a great day and evening spending time with great friends. My beautiful bestie from NJ @erriettelenasdesign @erriettelenas came to visit me and we met up with the sweet @lynneanncurtin at @javierscantina and then moved it over to @mastrosofficial. Erriette and I then went on to celebrate the birthdays of 4 of my girlfriends I adore 🎈🥳🎂🥂🍾@heatherkristing @tiffanysumner @danacru @malariemaes at @pendrynewportbeach . Had a little sleepover with the gorgeous and thoughtful @erriettelenasdesign, woke up, had coffee and I was so glad we finally had a chance to talk about a new design plan for the house. We discussed working with some pieces I already have, what works and what doesn’t. She even made a few small changes on the spot and I can’t believe it made such a big difference. The best part is that we had so much fun doing. She’s unbelievable. Now that’s a great friend! I appreciate you! 🫶

Alternative smoke alarms are so important for our learners who are unable to tolerate traditional alarms. It’s crucial to get an alarm that works for your learner and teach them how to safely respond using repeated practice. In honor of Fire Prevention Week and AAC Awareness Month 2024, Pyramid Educational Consultants @pecsglobal and the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) @aarbf, have teamed up to create a Smoke Alarm Safety infographic to help learners who benefit from using visual directions and resources. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) theme for 2024 is “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!™.” There are many types of smoke alarms available to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and communication challenges. This colorful infographic is designed to help families and educators be better prepared for fire emergencies by choosing the best smoke alarm for their learners and practicing the skills to respond to smoke alarms. An additional teaching guide is also available to help with teaching these important skills. Fire Safety Education is the first line of defense against fire fatalities and injuries.
